Eucharistic Prayer III The Lord is my I He restores my soul 1 Psalm 23:1, 3 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. at the age of 86.

Richard is survived by his daughter Diane, son Richard and daughter-in-law Laurie, Of Wappingers Falls, N.Y, sister June Frisenda, sister-in-law Dolores Harlin, both of Beacon, N.Y. He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Harlin, brother Donald Harlin, and grandson Michael Thomas. Surviving grandchildren are Joseph, Genevieve, and Andrew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Richard was born on October 6, 1928 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

to his mother Jessica Devine and father Richard Harlin Sr. He graduated from Beacon High School. Richard married Helen Sidote, January 15, 1950 and were married 59 years. After 35 years of service in corrections, he retired a proud sergeant. He was also the former owner of Helen's Flower Shop in Wappingers Falls.

He was an active and dedicated member of St. Mary's parish in Wappingers Falls. Richard was not a man of many words, but a man with many stories. Even to meet him for a moment you were pulled into a part of his life. Always willing to share either his experiences or mis-adventures, there was no getting away from it.

His passion for flight led him into becoming a pilot and instructor for many years. He was always passionate about traveling with his wife and family, which included trips all over Europe, North America and South America. The most visited place of all was his annual trip to Disney World. You could say he built that place. He's the only 86 year old I know who still went on roller coasters without hesitation.

Richard truly understood the value of family and spending time with the ones he cared about most. Without the adventures he wouldn't have the stories he shared with us all. From work to travel he was the proudest man I know or will ever know. He was a jack of all trades and built the house he lived in until this day. Quiet, soft spoken, and afraid of life this man was not.

He was thick headed and stubborn and tough as nails. Not many people can or will ever be able to say that they lived their lives the way they wanted to, but he can. If he wanted to eat his dessert first, there it was. If he wanted to have his coffee or soup hot, then it would be boiled. He lived his life the way he wanted to, and no one can argue that.

He truly is and always will be loved by many including every person he touches, if even for a brief moment's conversation. You were not only my grandfather, but the closest thing to a father I will ever have. Thank you for everything you've ever done and you will be missed terribly. "When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us I'd like to think we now have an army that has our backs. You will be missed by all.

Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main Wappingers Falls, friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Clinton Wappingers Falls. Burial St.
