THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1948 Mother's Dying Wish Met; Son Will Rest Beside Her A mother's dying wish will be fulfilled when the body of Pvt. Thomas C. Ahern is returned here for services and burial Saturday. His mother, Mrs. Margaret W.

Ahern, who died six months after learning of his death, asked before her death that his body be returned from Italy and buried beside hers. Saturday he will be placed by her side in Calvary Cemetery. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Speaks Finn Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St.

Joan of Are Catholic Church. PVT. AHERN was wounded captured by the Germans at and died in a German hosin Mantova, Italy, July 20, After receiving word of his in November, 1944, his mother failed in health and' died 6, 1945. When the Americans landed at Anzio, Pvt. Ahern and four other volunteered to establish an observation post.

Ahern asked for relief Miss Anna Brady Miss Anna Josephine Brady, 59 years old, 1430 Marlowe Avenue, a native of Indianapolis, died yesterday in her home. A member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Miss Brady attended St. John's parochial school. Survivors include a brother, Pearce Brady, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Sherman and Mrs.

Rosemary Catanzer, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in Grinsteiner's Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Meriwether, 88 years old, an Indianapolis resi-' dent 40 years and mother of a city councilman, Dr. Luformer' Meriwether, died yesterclan in her home, 2257 North Capitol Avenue. Named "Mother of the Year" in February by Zeta Phi Beta, Negro national educational SOrority, Mrs.

Meriwether was recommended for that honor in the state and nation by former State Senator Robert Lee Brokenburr. She was the mother of 10 children, six of whom hold masters' degrees. Mrs. Meriwether came to Indianapolis in 1908, after the death of her husband, James Meriwether, because she felt that her children could be better educated here. She was born at Guthrie, and had been a teacher there.

SINCE SHE could not get teaching job in Indianapolis, Mrs. Meriwether took housework to support her family. One son, William, who was college then, quit school so he could help her provide for the other children and keep them in school. Four of Mrs. Meriwether's daughters became teachers, one daughter, Mrs.

Maude M. Flack, is principal 56, and two sons became, dentists. Mrs. Meriwether helped most of her grandchildren to enter college, seven of them have been graduated. She a member of the Capitol Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, Thurman W.C.T.U.

and Phyllis Wheatley Y.W.C.A. SURVIVORS include five daughters, Mrs. Estella Ballenger, Chicago, Heights, Mrs. Rosa Roberts, Chicago; Mrs. Ola E.

Roberts, New York City; Miss Sara L. Meriwether, Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Flack. Two other sons, William R. Meriwether and Dr.

Sirdantian D. Meriwether, Indianapolis, nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m Saturday in the Capitol Mrs. Robert Reynolds Funeral services for Mrs. V.

Florence Reynolds, 73 years old, North Vernon, who died Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorothea Smith, 810 Olive Street, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in New Bethel United Brethren Church, Jennings County. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery near there. Born on a farm in Hamilton County, Mrs.

Reynolds lived in North Vernon 34 years. She had lived with her daughter since becoming ill several months ago. She was a member of New Bethel United Brethren Church. Surviving, besides Mrs. Smith, are the husband, Robert L.

Reynolds, Indianapolis; a daughterin-law, Mrs. Agnes Reynolds, Anderson, and a grandson. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 9. Survivors include the husband, three sons, Edward, Joseph and Leo Freihage, Indianapolis; two daughters, Miss Gertrude Freihage, Indianapolis, and Mrs.
