at RICHARD STANLEY age 93, formerly of Dearborn Heights, Michigan and Wilmington, North Carolina, was born August 2, 1920 in 'Christian Morgensieiv RENBARGER DR. RAY NISCH 87, twice married, first to the late Anne Large Renbarger, and second to Dean Hadden Lucas Renbarger of Westminster, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Galien, Michigan, Dr. Renbarger was the son of the late Ernest and Marie Renbarger. He was principal and assistant principal at several Michigan high schools, including Oak Park, Clarenceville and Roscommon.

After retiring to South Carolina, he was among the founding members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Seneca, SC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. He was the former president of the Chickasaw Point POA and a member of the Chickasaw Point Bridge Club.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Renbarger is survived by sons, Daniel Renbarger (Donna) of Dunwoody, Georgia, David Renbarger (Irene) of Dallas, Texas, and Michael Renbarger (Lynnette) of Superior, Colorado; step-sons, Greg Lucas (Angela) of Easley, SC and Barry Lucas (Lisa) of Cumming, GA; step-daughter, Angie Ellenburg (Brad) of Cumming, GA; fifteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Yurkanin was born in 1929 and raised in Ashley, PA. His parents were Joseph and Mary Yurkanin who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. He was preceded in death by three older siblings: Anne Kusiak of Plains, PA, Helen Oravec of Cleveland, OH, and Dr. Joseph Yurkanin of Riverview, Ml. During the Korean War, he served four years in the United States Navy, eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander as a line officer.

After his military service, he completed a bachelor's degree at Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, PA and then earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Os teopathic Medicine. His residency training was completed at the Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland Park, Ml. During residency, he met Halena Slywka whom he married in 1967 and remained married to for 46 years, until his death. He was a loving father to Michael and Paul Yurkanin and an adoring grandfather to John, Isabella, and Michael Yurkanin. Private services were held on January 6, 2014 at Our Lady of the Scapular Church with Msgr.

Active in the near the center of her brain, requiring a surgery that saved her life but left her partially paralyzed and with speech difficulty. Jan became active in the Cane and Able stroke-support group before starting her own organization closer to home in Macomb County through Henry Ford Hospital. New Beginnings, which she led for more than a decade, provided support and encouragements to hundreds of stroke survivors.

Jan was featured in news stories, books, and films, and spoke before large gatherings of patients and doctors. In 1998 Jan was named Michigan Stroke Victor of the Year by American Heart Association. Jan was also an artist. She taught pottery to children with disabilities, painted watercolors that won state honors, and sculpted angels that were exhibited and sold at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Through New Beginnings, Jan met the love of her life, Mike Peterson.

They married on May 8, 2010, days after she was diagnosed with cancer. They renewed their vows on December 30, 2013, while Jan was in hospice. Jan's loving spirit and kind heart will be missed by the many whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her father, Joseph Stanton; siblings Joe (Connie) Stanton, Tom (Beth Bagley) Stanton, and Colleen (Michael) Rudi; nieces and nephews, Andrea (Matt), Amanda (Sarah), Shawn, Zack (Molly), Taylor, William, Riley, and Landen; the adult children of her husband, Ed (Theo), Teri, and Mike Peterson; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Betty Stanton.

A lifetime resident of the Detroit Metropolitan area, Mr. Scharret was born in Detroit, Michigan, and died in Southfield, Michigan, following a brief illness. As Southfield City Administrator, Mr. Scharret was beginning his fortieth year of service to that city.

He started his City of Southfield career in 1974 as a Research Analyst, and he was appointed Director of Management and Budget in 1982. He became the Deputy City AdministratorFiscal Services Director in 2004, Acting City Administrator in 2006 and was named City Administrator in 2008. Mr. Scharret was proud of leading Southfield through the economic downturn in Michigan, to its current period of recovery and strength, without having to lay off any city employee. Mr.

Scharret was an active board member of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority (MMRMA) since 1989, as well as the Southfield Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Southfield Building Authority Commission, Southfield Economic Development Corporation, Southfield Community Foundation and the Local Development Finance Authority. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Central University.
