THE TEEEE HAUTE STAB, THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 1961. Hog Prices Gain In Strong Trade TOTAL RECEIPTS Han. 4.7M; ctttle. calves, 50; 600. INDIANAPOLIS.

Aug. bog prices here today ruled strong to mortly 25c higher. Sows were fully 25c higher. The more uniform No. 1 and 2 and gilts of 200 to 230 pounds sold at $18.75 to $18.85 with 29 head of 221 pounds at $18.90.

Bulk No. 1 to 3 butchers of 190 to 260 pounds rated $1830 to $18.75, a few to scattered lots No. 3 at $18.25 to $18.50. Scattered lots of 270 to 300 pounds went at $17.75 to $18.25. The 170 to 190-pounders sold at $17.50 to 150 to 170 pounds, $15.50 to $17.25.

Sows of 300 to 400 pounds ranged from $15.25 to 400 to 600 pounds, $1425 to $15.25, mostly $14-50 uu. Steers and heifers were strong to 50c higher; cows steady to 50c higher, most gain on cutters; bulls and vealers A couple loads of average to high-choice steers sold at a small load high-choice around 1,300 pounds. $24.25: a few loads and small lots choice. $23.75 to $24: good to choice $21.50 to $23.50 including a load of good and a few choice 1,150 pounds at $23.25. One lot of standard Holstein went at one load utility $18.50.

A load mostly choice mixed yearlings went at $23.50 and a load good to mostly choice $21 to $23. Cutter, utility and commercial cows ranged from $14.50 to $16, mostly $15 to $16: canners. $13 to $15. Utility to commercial bulls went at to $20. A few choice to prime vealers rated $27; good to choice.

$24 to a few standard down to $21. Lambs and ewes held steady. Choice to prime Spring lambs went at £17.50 to $18.50. a few good to low- choice, $15 to $17.50. A 129-head lot mostly choice 94-pound shorn spring- ers went at $17.50.

Ewes sold at $4 down. CHICAGO LIVESTOCK CHICAGO. Aug. 9. Trade in butcher hogs was active today at prices strong to 25 cents lower.

The mixed No. 1-2 and 1-3 Erades weighing 190-260 Ibs. cleared at $18.5019. The top was unchanged from Tuesday's high. Weights up to 280 Ibs.

grading mixed 2s and 3s moved at and heavier weights upward from $17.50. Sows topped at $17.35. With the slaughter steer market 25 1o 75 cents higher, a load of prime grade sold at $26.50. the highest since that price was paid May 17.
