The protests of two New England governors were added today to Northern arguments against a Southern demand for northbound freight rate revision. Governors Wilbur L. Cross of Connecticut and George D. Aiken of Vermont declared at an Interstate Commerce Commission hearing that Northern industry would suffer if the proposed rates were put into effect. Previously in the hearing, now in its second week, the commission heard testimony from Governors Robert E.

Quinn of Rhode Island, Herbert H. Lehman of New York and M. Clifford Townsend of Indiana. HIGH SCHOOL SHOP-Ri Dr. Paul Rader, 58, Evangelist, Dies Los Angeles, July 19. UP) Dr. Paul Rader, 58 years old, internationally -known evangelist, died at Hollywood hospital today after a long illness. Dr.

Rader's evangelistic work had taken him twice around the world. He had been preaching in Africa and England early this year when illness compelled "him to return home. At death he was head of the Wide World Gospel Couriers, which he founded in 1922. In his college days he was a boxer and football star at the University of Denver, and founded Beta Kappa, a national fraternity. He wrote a number of gospel hymns and was, author of two books, "Round the Round World," dealing with his evangelistic tours, and "Big Bug," a religious novel.

Native of Denver. He was born in Denver, Aug. 24, 1879, a son of Rev. Daniel L. Rader.

Completing his education at the University of Colorado, he became a faculty member at the University of Pugct Sound, and then athletic director of Hamiline University in Minnesota. His first ministerial work was as pastor of the Congregational Church in Boston, Mass. Later Dr. P.ader was pastor of Moody Memorial Church in Chicago and then president of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Pioneer In Broadcasting.

He founded tha Chicago Gospel Tabernacle in 1922 and became one of the pioneers in broadcasting gospel by radio. While Mrs. Aimee Semple McPherson was on a trip to the Holy Land in 1926, he served as pastor at Angelus Temple here, but said he preached his own faith. In 1932 Dr. Rader founded the Paul Rader Tabernacle here, later going to Fort Wayne, to become director of Gospel Temple.

Failing health caused him to return to Los Angeles nearly two years ago. Surviving are his widow and three daughters, Harriet Rader, his If via -i jfi i jUST Complete Assortment of Women's Sizes. SOLTAU DIES; GROCER SO YEARS John A. Soltnu, 91 years old, a resident of Indianapolis 65 years, died Monday night in the home of a son, Edward B. Soltau, 837 Middle drive, Woodruff Place. Mr. Soltau was born in Germany and came to Indianapolis in 1873.

He came to this country with his family when he was 10 years old and settled near Redwood Falls, Minn. He wis married to Miss Elizabeth Koehler and soon opened a chain of 12 grocery stores In which business he remained 50 years. Three of his sons still are employed in the business. Mr. Soltau was a member of of the First Evangelical Church.

Survivors besides Edward Soltau are three other sons, William A. Soltau, John H. Soltau and Benjamin H. Soltau all of Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Lena Theis of Indianapolis; three brothers, P.

W. Soltau of Syracuse, N. Henry Soltau and George Soltau. both of Minnesota, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held nt 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the McNeely mortuary, Burial will be in Crown Iljll cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Thompson Dies; Funeral Tomorrow Mrs. Margaret Ann Thomnson 80 years old, resident of Indianapo lis 4b years, died yesterday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Herman Hoffmeister, 1619 Mills avenue, University Heights, Mrs. Thompson was born In Boone county Sept.

25, 1857, the daughter of Ellis and Mary Carroll, and was married to Abijah P. Thompson Nov. 2, 1877. Mr. Thompson died In 1908.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church. Sirvivors besides Mrs. Hoffmeister are three other daughters, Mrs. Robert P.

Pickard and Mrs. O. W. Buchanan, both of Toledo, and Mrs. R.

J. Donovan of Hammond; three sons, Guy IL Thompson of Indianapolis, R. L. Thompson of East St. Louis, and E.

C. Thompson of Chicago, nine grandchildren and one great erandchild. Funeral services will ho held nt 1 o'clock tomorrow In the home of Mrs. Hoffmeister. Burial will be in Mud Creek cemetery in Boone county.

Milford, a graduate of Wabash College and for six years special assistant to Harry L. Hopkins in charge of WPA publicity, died Monday afternoon in Washington. En route to Indianapolis by automobile at the time of his death, Mrs. Milford did nt learn of it until she arrived here yesterday at the home of Mrs. Robert Richardson, 1342 Edgemont avenue.

She came to the city to nltend services for Mrs. Edith Richardson, her cousin, who died Saturday In Methodist Hospital following Injuries suffered last Wednesday In nn automohile accident. Mrs. Milford drove hero with her brother, Lee Moffett. Formerly representative of several papers In tho Midwest, Mr. Milford was known widely In Indianapolis. He went to Washington as a correspondent In 1910 and later was owner and editor of other papers.

Paul Davis of Chicago, and a son, Arthur Lee Milford, Mrs, Milford, he for a her marriage, was Miss Florence Bell Moffett. of Indianapolis. The Milford home in Washington is nt 305 Ray street. Services in Lafayette, Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon In the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church at Chevy Chase, Md. The funeral party will leave for Lafayette, Mr.

Cox of Dayton, and Thomas R. Shipp, formerly of Indianapolis. David B. Johnson 11, 24, Dies; Funeral Is Today David B. Johnson JI, 24 years old, of Mooresville, a son of Howard V.

Johnson, stale senator from Hendricks, Morgan and Owen counties, died in the Robert W. Long Hospital here Monday. Young Johnson was assistant manager of the Johnson Orchard Company and was a life resident of Mooresvile( where ho was born Dec. 8, 1913. He was graduated from Mooresville High School In 1931, and had attended Earlham College, Indiana University and the University of Arizona.

He was a member of the Friends church, the Phi Delta Thcta Fraternity and the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. Funeral services will bo held in the home at 3 o'clock this after noon, conducted by the Rev. Albert L. Copeland. Burial will bo In Mooresville.

Survivors are his parents and a grandfather, David B. Johnson; a sister, Miss Eleanor Johnson, and two brothers, Newman Johnson and Philip Johnson, all of Mooresville. Members' of the Senate of the Indiana General Assembly yesterday adopted a resolution offering condolences to the family, Frank H. Keller, Long Resident Here, Is Dead Frank H. Keller, a former resident of Indianapolis, died Monday in San Diego, after an illness of five months.

Mr. Keller was born in Indianapolis Nov. 29, 1872, and lived here until 1917. He attended public schools here, was graduated from Shortridge High School and he also attended the University of Michigan. For many years he was associated with his father, Robert Keller, In operating a department store on the South side.

He was a member of Masonic organizations, including the Shrine. Mr. Kellor visited here frequently after going fo California to make his home. His last visit I City- c. o.

E. Eberhardt, superintendent of the Wheeler City Rescue Mission, recalled last night that Dr. RadtT conducted a two-week series of meetings here for the mission about 18 years ago in the old Empire Theater. Mrs. Heidergott Dies; Rites Friday Mrs.

Minnie Heidergott, 88 years old, 3331 Forest Manor avenue, a resident of Indianapolis 65 years, died yesterday in her home after an illness of three months. Mrs. Heidergott was born In Germany and was married 1o William S. Heidergott in 1873. Mr.

Heidergott died in 1924. She was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Survivors are three sons, William Heidergott of Lafayette and Harry Heidergott and Frank Heidergott, both of Indianapolis, and two daughters, Mrs. Edith Pearce of Dayton, and Miss Emma Heidergott of Indianapolis, 10 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in the residence. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery.

Willamine Miller. SERVED IX FORT WAYNE. Fort Wayne, July 19. Dr. Paul Rader, noted evangelist who died today in Los Angeles, for two years was director of the widely known Gospel Temple here.

He came to Fort Wayne in 1934 from Los. Angeles to become director of the temple and during his administration the already large congregation was increased considerably. The church Is well known to residents throughout northeastern Indiana. In 1936 failing health forced Dr. Rader to retire from active ministry and return to Los Angeles.

He did not, however, officially sever his connection with the local congregation until February, 1937. DR. RADER KNOWN HERE. Dr. Paul Rader, 58-year-old evangelist who died yesterday in Los Angeles, was widely known in Indianapolis and in th; state.

Private funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the residence. The Rev. William F. Rothenhurger, pastor of the Third Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be la Greenfield cemetery.
