The J'olo Enjoy a Trip to Van Wert with Three SODS of the Sand. Monday afternoon tho Fort Wayne polo team occupied seats in a smoking car on the Pitlsburg road bound fur Van Wert. At the front end of the coach sat three "shirtless sons of tho shimmering sand," but, however, on this occasion, they were clad in those necessary habiliments. Immediately in the rear of these Arabs sat the curious and jolly poloists, who were bent on watching every move of the dark and bellicose foreigneis. Promptly at 4 o'clock tho worshippers of Mohammed began to go through the different forms of the Islamite leligion, which were not only interesting to those poloiets of a religious turn of inind, but was highly arousing and laughable.

They earned a Geiman silver tea pot with them which they filled with water and then proceeded to their feet in it. After this in the barne water they laved their hands, face and teeth, which almost turned tho stomachs of the dainty club swingers. As soon as one had completed this part of the service the others would get "fresh" water and go through the same ceremony, each wiping their hands, feet and face with the same towel. At this juncture, the heads of the. poloists could be seen hanging out over the window sills of the car.

Now the most laughable part of the program commenced, which brought forth bursts of laughter. Of all the evolution! and postmefe as- jjurned during the recital, of the Koran, it would take columns to relate; standing OH their heads, kneeling down, lying prostrate on the floor, kissing their hands, holding Iheir hands high i the air and kissing the floor are only a fiw of the niauy antics performed by these devout worshippers. At the close of this service the poloists drew a long breath and yelled, "one goal." The table was spread and all the de- licasies of the season were artistically spread, and the victuals were devoured with apparent relish, but the GAZETTE representative not being hungry, did not take particular notice what tho lepast consisted of, 1 although he was informed by the gaunt Irishman of the club that it was ery appetizing. As soon as they had eaten their dinner they lit their cigarettes and took a quiet smoke. The GAZETTE young man being the only one of tho club that was at all versed in the Arabic language moved into a seat occupied by one of them, who proved to be an occuliat--a practicing M.
