(Daddy) Boles, 74, former Univer-. sity of Kentucky athletic director and football coach, was found dead at his home today.

Coroner Chester Hagcr said Boles, who was athletic director when basketball coach Adolph Rupp hired In 1930, apparently died of a heart attack. He was 24 years old and was a veteran of four years In the U. S. Air Force part of that time being passed in Korea. He was a graduate of St. Mary High School, Elsmere.

Mr. Tomllnon had been working at Pratt Whitney Aircraft in Palm Beach, for a year. He is survived also by three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Richard Tomlinson; two sisters, Miss Phyllis and Miss Mary Jane Tomlinson; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Carl all of Covington.

oseph C. Simons MAYSVILLE, Dec. 4 (Special) Joseph C. Simons, 64, native Maysvillan, operator and president of Bristol, Dental Laboratories, died yesterday at his home there after suffering a heart attack. He had been recognized as the greatest football player ever turned out by Maysville High.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. O. J. Tempell. Wythe-vllle, and Shirley Simons, at home; his mother, Mrs.

Lillian Harding Simons, of Maysville, and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Buckley, Mrs. Mary Belle Daul-ton and Mrs. James Hutchinson, all of Maysville Services will be conducted at 4 p. m.

Tuesday at J. Porter and Sons Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be In Maysville Ceme- tery. Friends may call at I the funeral home after 10 a. m.

She is survived by six sons, Adrian and Harold, both of Maysville. William and Gene, both of Salinas, Jack, Greenville, N. C.f and Donald, Cincinnati; two daughters, Mrs. Robert McHugh, Maysville, and Mrs. Adam Don, Oakland, N.

two sisters, Mrs. Grace Burrls, Dayton and Mrs. J. F. Blenkenship, Portsmouth, Ohio, and four brothers, Ollle, Robert and Orvllle Jones, all of Portsmouth, and Elmer Jones, Dayton.

Services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Knox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Mrs. Darpel Mrs. Lawrence Darpel, 71, 1701 Jefferson Covington, died early yesterday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. She leaves her husband; two sons, Stanley Darpel, Cleveland, and Lawrence Darpel Loveland, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs.

Esther Cro-nln and Mrs. Vera Williams, both of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Evelyn Roth, Mt. Healthy, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Penn, Mt.

Healthy. Requiem High Mass will be intoned at 9 a. m. Thursday in St. Augustine Church.

Covington. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery. Friends may call at the Middendorf Funeral Home, 917 Main Covington, after 3 p. m. today.

rs. Eggleston Services for Mrs. Frank Eggleston, 40, of 743 Welsh Covington, who died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a year's illness, will be at 2:30 p. m.

today In Chambers Boles came to Kentucky In 1916 from Texas Christian University and was appointed a physical education Instructor. He coached football during the 1917 season, when Kentucky had a 3-5-1 record. He was named athletic director the following year, a post he held until 1934. He was appointed a professor of physical education In 1931 and was manager of ticket sales in 1938. Boles was one of the organizers of the Kentucky state high school basketball tournament when it started on the UK campus in 1918.

He was manager of the veterans housing projects at the university from 1948- 55. The university put him on a change of work status in 1955.
