Ed Wiesner is home from Germany. Mrs. Frankie Green, the mother of Mrs. Jack Pierce has been on the sick list. Clifford Stuessel attended the wedding of his father in Cat Spring this past Saturday evening.

Mrs. Claude Schwartz and Mrs. John Larsen were among those who atended the golden anniversary celebration of tyie Rosenberg Chapter of the Eastern Star, last Thursday evening. Lloyd Garrett of Vernon spent last weekend with his father, Sam Garrett, while he was in Waller County hospital. Mr.

and Mrs. Ralph England and children were in Dallas last week for the State Fair. Mrs. Richard Woods was doing fine on Monday after having surgery in the Hermann hospital Friday. She is in room 586.

Mrs. John Adams returned Saturday from a two weeks visit with her daughters in Houston. Mrs. Gladys Willis of San Antonio came down for the weekend and took her grandmother, Mrs. M.

Mr. and Mrs. Ike Youngblood were in Thorndale for the weekend. Basketball suits have been ordered for the Brookshire Elementary boys who are practicing hard. The Bundick family spent the weekend in Nixon and Smiley visiting their folks.

Mrs. Jack Dalton and Mrs. Skinny Dalton are enjoying a vacation trip in the north and eastern states. They report that the fall seasons colorful leaves really makes beautiful scenery. Charlie Mae Cray, an employee of the Farmer's State Bank, was pleasantly surprised with cake and coffee at the Bank on her birthday Tuesday.

Among those at the A. C. U. game were Arthur Robichaux, Fred Rylander, Jim Rhoden, Leo Goates, Mary Ann Ernstes, and the James Griffin family. Mrs.

A. K. Brookshire returned from a. 2 months stay with her son, Max Dozier and family in Kent, Wash. She drove her car and came back by way of Austin -to let a passenger friend-off at the home of her sister, then spent Saturday night there with them before coming on home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Neelley enjoyed the Gordon McCrea show at the Shamrock last Wednesday evening. Mr. W.

R. Leggett attended the meeting of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in Houston on October 19 and 20. Mrs. 0. F.

Kitzmann honored her father, Henry Ross with a turkey dinner Sunday on his 81st birthday. Present were his eight children and their families. Besides Mrs. Kitzmann they are, Mrs. Johnnie Verm of Conroe, Ben Ross, Edgar Ross, and Dan Ross of San Felipe, Mrs.

Buddy Fink, Mrs. Fritz Hinze, and Earl Ross of Sealy. At present Mr. Ross is making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Johnnie Verm and family at Conroe.

'til Air Force ROTC Cadet High D. Sims Selected As Outstanding Cadet at SWTSTC Pictured is AFROTC'Cadet Hugh D. Sims being decorated by Colonel Albert E. Hughes, Professor of Air Science at SWTSTC. Cadet Sims was selected over all other Air Force cadets at Southwest Texas State Teachers College as the most outstanding cadet of the month.

As a reward, he will be given a flight in a T-33 jet trainer at Randolph AFB, Texas, also he will wear a gold ribbon. Sims is a sophomore in the college at San Marcos and his participation in the AFROTC program will earn him an Air Force commission upon graduation. He is a graduate of the Katy High School. Freeman of Katy, graduated from recruit train- ng Sept 19 at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. The graduation exercises marking the end of nine weeks of "boot camp," included a full dress parade and review before military officials and civilian dignitaries. In nine weeks of instruction, the "raw recruit" is developed into a Navy Bluejacket, ready for duty with the fleet. FULSHEAR NEWS Mr. and Mrs.

Arthur Robichaux have received word that their son, Arthur has arrived in Korea after being aboard the ship, Gen. Breckenridge for 17 days; He left Seattle on Sept. 23rd and the ship stopped for fuel at Okinawa and at Formosa where part -of the troops aboard and some equipment was unloaded His camp is located about 12 miles north of Seoul. Palmer of Route 1, Box 125, Brookshire, participated in the year's largest West Coast amphibious exercise, (Phiblex-2), during Sept. 314, with units of the 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton, The exercise included assaults on mock coastal installations by both amphibious and helicopter-borne troops, the latter lifted from the decks of off-shore aircraft carriers.

For the exercise, the Corps used for the first time its new HR-2S bow-loading, troop-carrying helicopters.
