Barbara Stillman, brunet mother of two little girls, armed with a placard and tion. Mrs. Stillman, who picketed on her front lawn yesterday for the third straight day, said she is protesting the "discourteous. take-now, negotiatelater" policy of the State Highway Department in its right of way proceedings for a new route. She said the state is seeking a six-foot-wide strip of land in front of her home to widen the street so it can overpass the new highway.

Mrs. Stillman said an offer of $315 was made, the value decided on by state appraisers. The Stillmans had a private appraisal made that showed the land to be worth $1500. The Stillmans' attorney got in touch with the state and officials promised another appraisal would be made. Meantime, workmen began excavating the property beyond the Stillman hedge.

Just over the hedge, the sidewalk and two large maple trees have been uprooted. "They haven't touched my land yet." Mrs. Stillman said. 'I'm watching them closely. "I expect to picket until the State of New Jersey hands me condemnation papers stating they'll take me to court or until a settlement is reached.

"If they want to move me in the meantime they'll have to move me bodily. "They wouldn't have touched the sidewalk or the trees if I was there but they did it while I was out getting my sign on Thursday." The sign reads: "I I refuse to have my land taken from me until I receive just compensation from the state." Love Conquers All! Dream Mission Saved For Pair'We Still Can't Believe It' GREENPORT, N.
