BURT The Burt board of education met in special session Friday evening and set Wednesday, March 1, as the date for the letting of bids for the construction of the new proposed addition to the Burt school which will have a new gym and new industrial arts and new homemaking facilities. Present at Friday night's meeting were Bob McClurg of Mason City, engineer hired by the board to draw up plans for the new addition, and several interested district residents. The next meeting of the board will be held Wednesday evening, March 1, at which time Russell Buchanan, Algona, attorney for the Burt Community School, will be present at this meeting and study In detail the plans presented by Mr, McClurg and explain any legal aspects necessary. Mrs. Duane Mawdsley was mistress of ceremonies for an appropriate program. Several vocal selections were rendered by Connie, Judy and Becki Sheirbon and Cheryl Sill, accompanied by Mrs. Roscoe Mawdsley, Jr. The life of Patricia, "Past, Present and was depicted in pictures, music and words with Mrs.

I've met his entire family, and I get along with thorn very well. H. McMullen Clerk Several Portland families attended the shower Saturday in honor of Miss Patty Sheirbon, at the Burt Presbyterian Church. Mr. and Mrs. Harris Harms visited six-year-old Todd Davis in the St.

Ann Hospital at Algona. Todd has spent about six weeks in the hospital after breaking his leg in a tabboganing accident. He is getting along fine. Mr. and Mrs.

Harold Fitch, Renwick, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Andreasen, Burt, were Thursday evening visitors in the Victor Fitch home. Mr. and Mrs.

Herbert Harms, Titonka, were Sunday evening visitors in the Harris Harms home. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Aures of St. Paul were weekend guests in the parental Harold Lampe home.

Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Larson, Mrs. Gladys Christensen and Mr. and Mrs.

Arnold Andreasen, Algona, were Sunday afternoon visitors in the Wilbur Christensen home. Miss Linda Becker is spending a week's vacation in the home of her parents'; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Becker, before she resumes her last semester of nurses' training at the Methodist Hospital at Des Moines, She is also spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs.

Keith Marra at Orange City and plans to spend Wednesday night with her sister, Nancy Becker at Carroll. Mr. and Mrs. Thees Schnakenberg, LuVerne, and Ray McWhorter were Sunday afternoon visitors in the Frank Becker home. Frank Becker, Ames, was also home for the week-end.

BACK FROM FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Faber and Jason arrived home the first of the week after spending two weeks visiting relatives and friends and vacationing in Florida. At Port Charlotte, Fla. they visited the Russell Thompsons of Burt at their winter home.

Enroute home the Fabers attended the Grand Old Oprey at Nashville, Tenn. PAST MATRONS MEET Mrs. Trella Petterson, assisted by Ellen Holmgren, entertained members of the Burt Past Matrons at the home of Mrs. Patterson in Algona Thursday. Ten members answered roll calll with "A Blast." Mrs.

Cash, Algona, was a guest. Gifts were purchased and given to Millie Klamp and Francis Sarchet, members both of whom spent considerable time in hospitals. Erma Harvey, Swea City, took those attending on a trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark by telling of her trip and vacation spent in those countries this past summer. She also had many pictures to show. I CLUB MEETS Twenty-one members and guests enjoyed the annual banquet and evening of fellowship of the I Club Tuesday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ryerson were special guests of the club and following the dinner entertained the group with two of their many films, "Trees' and "Cats." Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Angus, Mr.

and Mrs. Robert Angus, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Clapper, Gladys Hawcott, Mr. and Mrs.

Roll call will be answered with the revealing of mystery sisters, Maxine Angus will be in charge of the program for the afternoon. AT SCOUT CAMP Sharon Patterson and Jayne Skadburg, Senior Girl Scouts, and their advisor, Mrs.

Arnold Skadburg, were among the 150 or more senior Girl Scouts and advisors from the Council, Sioux Trails and Des Moines councils senior Girl Scouts to attend a winter conference at the Twin Lakes Bible camp at Manson Feb. 5 and 6. The theme of the conference was "Me And My Featured speakers the two days were Mrs. V. R.

Metheny and Laurel Rans. Mr. and Mrs. Arie Dittmer visited the former's aunt, Mrs. Anna Morgan at Ames.

Wednesday, the Dittmers visited relatives at Battle Creek, the I-awrence Nelsons. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Andrews, Mrs. Howard McMullen and Mrs.

Al Hinckley and Darwin Hauswirth, Havelock, attended the officers school of instruction evening meeting and Grand visitation at Silver Chapter, O.E.S., Sioux City. Mrs. Vancha Spade, former Burt resident and a past member of Kossuth Chapter O.E.S., Burt, is Worthy Matron of the Silver Chapter. The members of the Fortnightly Club will meet at the home of Ethel Dremmel on Friday afternoon, Feb. 18.

Mr. and visited from Thursday to Monday at the home of Mrs. Cook's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs Cal Kollasch, at Coal City, 111 Saturday all visited Mrs. Peari Gammcl, 83, at Dwight, 111.

UNUSUAL An unusual chess set has been fashioned from telephone pole insulators by Allen Masters of Ottumwa. The chess set was displayed at the Iowa Antique Bottler's January meeting at Boone, and won first place in the jar insulator category and took best of show One set of the players Lone Rock Aid Sends Blankets, Robes To Relief LONE ROCK-Guestswerein attendance for the February meeting of the Immanuel Lutheran ladies aid held Friday at the Letts Creek church parlors. Those present were entertained by a Valentine skit presented by Mrs.

Walter Otto, Mrs. Ray Mrs. Leonard Pompe, Mrs. Kenneth Bellinger and Mrs Gerald Kuecker. Pastor Walter Otto led the quarterly topic, "Certainty in Christ." Mrs.

Duane Lleb, chairman of the sewing committee, reported that 30 blankets and lap robes had been made for World Relief, Mrs. Leo Wood, Mrs. Art Zumach, Mrs. Roy Bierle and Mrs. Wayne Boettcher had made the monthly aid visit to the county home.

Aid members are requested to be In attendance for their invitations to the morning coffee to be held Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Swea City and also the World Day of Prayer at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Algona. Following the business meeting a silent auction was held of the homemade articles brought by aid members, Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Elmer Pompe and Mrs. Gerald Radig.

The flower committee for February is Mrs. Wayne Boettcher and Mrs. Kenneth Bellinger. AT LEGISLATURE Mr. and Mrs.

Junior Hurlburt, Rock, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tigges of Burt spent Thursday in Des Moines and were with the Farm Bureau members attending sessions of the Iowa legislature of both the House and Senate. The two couples also sat in on a committee meeting. Berl Priebe and Wayne Keith were in attendance for the evening meal with the Farm Bureau members.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fortney and Sylvester Brace of Lone Rock also spent Thursday in Des Moines. BROTHER DIES Mrs. Delmar Fischer returned Saturday after attending the funeral of her brother, Sid Peterson, at New Smyrna Beach, Fla Mr.

Peterson died Feb. 3 and the funeral was held the following Tuesday. Enroute home Mrs. Fischer also visited her daughter, Margaret, and husband, Mr. and Mrs.

Larry Menz at Spartanburg, S.C. Mrs. Dorothy Marlow was host to her "500" card club Feb. 7. Jesse Stebrltz, Algona, and Mrs.

Georgia Marlow were guests of the club and Jesse played for Mrs. Wilfred Radig who was unable to attend. Winning high prize was Mrs. George Kissner. Mrs.

Milton Marlow won second high and Mrs. Ervln Wetzel won low. Wednesday dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Marlow were Mr. and Mrs.

John Bollinger, Jon and Jim and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Marlow, all of Fenton. Wednesday supper guests were Mr and Mrs. Marvin Marlow Minday supper guests of Mrs' Marlow were Mrs.
