Gents 50c. 359 VAWTER ENTERING CALIFORNIA BANK Vernon Vawter, whose resigna-1881, tion as president of the Jackson County Bank, was recently announced, returned to Medford this morning by plane from San Francisco to spend several days here completing the settlement of business interests in the local banking firm.

Mr. Vawter will be located in Los Angeles in the future, he stated this morning, when interviewed regarding his plans in the south. He will enter the banking business in that city. Date for entering business in Los Angeles was not given by Mr. Vawter, who added he would announce his definite plans within a short time.

He will return to California this week. -Funeral rites for the late Eugene A. Hutchens, who passed away Monday at the age of 72 years, a notice of which appeared in yesterday's issue of this paper. will be held at the Conger chapel at 1:30 Wednesday. Dr. Jouett P.

Bray will have charge of services and interment will follow in the Jacksonville cemetery. CARLON Margaret Pearson Carlon, 68 years old, died at her home on Lozier Lane, March 17, from heart trouble. Mrs. Carlon was born in Sweden, October 16, 1861, and came to" America in settling in Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Eugene Carlon, September 24, 1883.

They made their home in Minnewauken, N. for 44 years. Three children were born to their union: George Elmer of Tacoma. Mrs. Mayme Boots and Edward Carlon of Medford, Ore.

Mrs. Carlon is survived by her husband, Eugene, and the above children besides eight grand children and one great grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Carlon came to Medford three years ago and had just completed a beautiful new home on Lozier lane.

Funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral Home, Wednesday Rev. Claud B. Porter Interment in Medford cemetery. THOMPSON-Alexander Thompson, 84, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.

W. Evansizer, at 128 Almond street. Monday evening from arterial schlerosis. Mr. Thompson had resided in for 45 years.

He recently came to Medford from Myrtle Creek. to be with his daughter on account of his age and health. Funeral arrangements in charge of the Perl Funeral Home and will be announced later. KINNEY--Funeral services for A Amy Margaret Kinney, who passed Perl Funeral Home at 3:30 D. away March 16, will be held at the Wednesday, March 19.

OREGON -Jas. A. Knight, county farm inmate, was sought on 11 charge involving his stepdaughter. M'DONALD CLAIMS MOVIE COMPANIES WILL 'SHOOT' HERE If plans off several California moving picture companies, as explained by Fred McDonald: who arrived yesterday from Hollywood to enter negotiations with the Childers real estate company of Jacksonville for leasing of property, are carried through, Medford will be the Oregon headquarters for film making activities indefinitely. Such concerns as Fox, Metro-Goldwyn, Universal, Warner Brothers and possibly one or two others are reported by McDonald to be interested in the deal, involving possession of 400 acres of land a short distance above Jacksonville.

The spot is declared to be espe-1 cially adaptable for moving picture work due to the high quality of sun light found there, following surveys made by representatives of different, be studios. only four There such are loca- detions in the United States, and one of these is in southern California, but the area has been found to be too limited at that place. Mr. McDonald declared this forenoon that he expects the advance guard of the companies to arrive next month and that ably moving pictures, requiring outdoor scenes, will be made there all summer, followed by more activities during the winter, when snow scenes are desirable. It is probable that permanent buildings will be constructed on the property and that from 40 to 50 people will he employed there continuously, McDonald claims.

The companies would make their headquarters in Medford, with the majority of those going back and forth location. This number of people, will not Include the "extras," who will be employed locally. Plans for the establishment of moving picture interests have been underway for sometime, and recently the chamber of commerce has received numerous letters of inquiry from southern studios. McDonald was formerly swimming instructor at the Natatorium. C.
