Six locomotive were required to haul the huge load over the Sierra Nevada mountains.

They were married at tho homo of a cousin at Santa Cruz in November, 18711. Shortly after, Miv and Mrs. Chickering moved to Oakland, remaining in Oakland until 11(13, when they moved to Piedmont. Chickering practiced law in San Francisco. He died at Piedmont April 21, 1915.

After that time Mrs. Chickering divided her timo between her homes at Piedmont and Carmel, MOTHER" -OF FIVK Mrs. Chickerini? was, it is claimed, the oldest living member of the Ebell society. For years she and her late husband attended the First Congregational church at Oakland. She was the mother of five children.
