Williams was asked yesterday morning to "cooperate this Saturday night by stationing enforcement officials at night clubs and similar places where drinking is prevent all intoxicated personal from operating automobiles." The telegram in part reads "More automobile accidents due to drunken driving or careless, drivers occur on Saturday night and early Sunday morning at this time of year than any other day in the week. Williams last night sent all members of the police department out with orders to warn proprietors of restaurants, beer emporiums, and other establishments to dispense with the single ball and pay off machines by noon today or be arrested for operating gaming devices. Policemen were ordered to warn even those proprietors whose establishments might be closed.

Proprietors not complying with the warning will be arrested and fined. Mayor Williams said last night the machines are on the order of slot machines and can be classed as gambling devices.
