April 11, 1940 San Anselmo Herald, San Anselmo, California Page Seven DODGE ENGINEERS CREATE "RESTFUL RIDES," SMITH SAYS Terms like "millionths of an inch" and thousands of an inch" sound like mere figures of speech to most people but to Dodge engineers they are working reali. ties. This was brought out by Leon C. Smith, manager of J. E.

French Dodge- dealers, in commenting on how painstakingly Dodge engineers seek to reduce vibrations and operating noises within the 1940 Dodge Luxury Liners. "It: is 3 easier to understand why Dodge cars are known for their restful ride," he declared, pointing out that Dodge engineers go after vibration at the source. For example: "Automobile vibration comes from the road as well as from the running of the engine. Onr engineers test every point inside the car for the exact amount of vibration as the car runs."
