With Mrs. Olive Clark Day held for vial on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of Clarice Tauber, the preliminary hearing of William Jobelmann, co-defendant with Mrs. Day, will be resumed next Tuesday before Superior Jurge Samuel Blake.

Mrs. Day was held to answer late Tuesday after the Tauber girl, now the wife of Thomas Fladebo, a sailor, had declared the stand that she had been taken downtown hotel by Mrs. Day introtona duced to one "Bill Martin," who posed as an artist. Do She identified "Martin" as a man she later learned was John P. Mills, San Diego broker.

Charges against Mills for an asserted attack on the Tauber girl were withdraws, by the district attorney's that he could testify for the prosecution. Lorrin Andrews, attorney for Mrs, Day, attacked the Tauber girl's testimony on the ground that she had been in technical custody of the district attorney's office for five months, held in a downtown hotel and entertained at theaters. Services Held for Hollister Residents HOLLISTER, Re Oct. has claimed three residents of this section. Mrs.

Hansine Lorensen, 81, pioneer of the Anzar district near San Juan, was buried in Salinas today. Shia is survived by seven children 39 grandchildren. Frank Sosa, 48, prominent rancher, was laid to rest in the local Calvary cemetery. He died suddenly Monday night. Surviving him are his widow and eight children.

Romani Tirado, member of a well known ranching family, died Tuesday at county hospital where he a patient for some time. He leaves five brothers and sisters. Chinese Lottery Guilty. BERKELEY, Oct. 8. With a jury taking only 12 minutes to find the defendant guilty on a charge of selling lottery tickets, George Chin, alleged proprietor of a former Chinese lottery establishment in Emeryville, will appear this morning before Judge Oliver Youngs for sentence. Chin's case went to the jury without defense testimony owing to the fact that his attorney, Leo Sullivan, was unable to appear.

Sullivan had been warned last week by Judge Youngs that no further continuances would granted in a case which has been pending since last June. Owing to the fact that a jury had been summoned yesterday and that a series of continuances had been granted, Judge Youngs refused recognize an affidavit sworn to by Sullivan in which he declared that he was unable to be present. Chin was arrested in a raid on premises at 3726 San Pablo avenue by operatives from the sheriff's and. district attorney's offices. National Picture Week to Be Observed National picture week will be on observed by the picture division of the Oakland free public library with displays at the main library and all branches from October 12 to 17, inclusive.

Picture circluation has increased 150 per cent in three years, it is announced. With the exception of a few original and fragile prints, the library's collection of 126,222 pieces of visual material is available for circulation on library cards. Teachers may order picture exhibits and have them sent direct to the school by truck. The Oakland free library, it is pointed out, was one of the pioneer American libraries to circulate pictures. Its collection is the second largest public library collection in the state.

Humorists and News Hounds Plan Battle STANFORD UNIVERSITY, Oct. 8-Accepting the challenge made by Berk Anthony, editor of the Chaparral, campus humor magazine, to carry on the annual football game between the humorists and the members of the student newspaper staff, W. E. "Biff" Sullivan, leader of the scribes, today his cohorts through a hard practic in preparation for the game. The Chaparral boys boast a strong aggregation, which includes such stars as "Race Horse" Winther and "Scar Face" De Roos.

According to the confident newspaper boys, they will repeat their last year's victory.
