The JACK GOEHRY JOINS FATHER, ENLISTS IN U. S. NAVY An old ambition was this week in Denver, when Jack Goehry, formerly, of Tomales, joined the United States Navy to follow in the footsteps of his father, Erhart Goehry, who has had 30 years of navy service. It has long been the plan in the Goehry family to have young Jack follow in his father's footsteps. The boy, however, was to have gone to college two years so he couid apply for a commission.

His parents promised that if a war broke he could join. The elder Goehry, now assigned to the Greeley sub-station in Den ver, as a recruiting officer, accepted his son's enlistment. Goehry retired in 1936, but was called back into active duty last fall. Young Goehry left the Colorado State College of Education this week after only one quarter of attendance. The elder Goehry was aboard the cruiser San Diego, when it was blown up by a German mine off Fire Island, N.

July 18. 1918. He clung to a life raft until rescued. While living in Tomales, the Goehrys had a small ranch and as he was known to many Tomales High School students, taught music. Young Jack also was outstanding in music.
