When the application has been filed, the welfare department investigates the applicant and obtains a statement from responsible relatives regarding additional aid and support. That these relatives must carry out obligations agreed upon or be subject to action of the district attorney. That any person possessing assets amounting to over $300 will be charged for care.

It was also agreed that patients who are able to pay can be admitted by the Superintendent as long as there is room for them and their care does not interefere with the treatment of indigent applicants. All those applying for admittance to the County Farm will be subject to the regulations of the ordinance on and after December 1, 1943. Before casting the vote, it was further set forth that each applicant be checked semi-annually by the welfare department to determine whether the financial standing of the patient has changed, and requiring a doctor's certificate for all patients who wished to enter the hospital or tuberculosis ward. A certificate from the medico would also determine when the patient could be dismissed. Famous "Suzy-Q" At Hamilton Field Another American Eagle has come home to roost--but only for a short time.

The famous Flying Fortress, which played such an important part in th battle of Java and in the Solomons is now taking a well earned rest and undergoing a general repair job at the 41st Sub Depot, Hamilton Field. This battle scarred bird saw plenty of action in many other places, including Western Australia, the South Pacific, Coral Seas, New Guinea, Port Moresby, Milne Bay, New Britain, Raboul, Gasmata, Timar, Rork Peninsula, Ambon and New Ireland. The Japs will not forget this veteran who accounted for 26 of their planes and 4 probables. One of the members of the original crew, Orville Wright Kiger of Winchester, Virginia, belly gunner, personally shot down six of the Zeros and a couple of "probables." In addition to its heroic battle record, the "Susz-Q" has a remarkable travel log painted on her side, showing visits to South America, South Africa, Cairo, the Mediterranean, Persia, India, Ceylon, the Nile, Nigeria, Palestine, Java and the Java Sea. A large question mark on the nose of the plane indicates that her next trip is a mystery.

However, when the frightened contractor lifted the hood it was evident that he was the victim of a trick. The fire boys in retaliation of von Rotz' kidding them, had placed a small bomb SAN RAFAEL FIESTA attractions Servicemen's Dance U.S.O., San Rafael Friday Spanish Market Saturday evening, October 30 and Sun. aft.
