Checks were remitted promptly, TO FOLLOW PLAN. Ownetship of Homes Urged By Realty Head Money Paid as" Rent Ge.ls Full Result Also, Declares Wood. Arguments in favor of home ownership were advanced yesterday at a meeting of member of the Oakland Real instate board. Fred T. Wood, president of the board, in an address to the members outlined many of the advantages of home ownership, as against th practice of paying rent.

"Th modern American family." ha aald. "which Is considering the possibility of buying a home must weigh costs with advantages, and should weigh them carefully. There la a general notion that money paid for rent la money thrown away as compared with money apent for the purchase of a home. Such a notion la unsound. The man who pays money for rent buys with that money his ull money'! worth.

But th family which puts the same money into a 'home buys more. "Hera are aome of the things," ha continued, "which every family pays for when It pays its monthly rent bill: taxes, repairs and decorations, insurance, allowance fdV possible vacancy, interest on the investment represented In the house, the landlord's legitimate profit. "Now let ua consider what happens to the family when it decides that It will cease to pay rent and Instead begin to make payments on a home of their own. Wa will go over th list again: "The renter has been paying taxes indirectly in every month's rent bill. The insurance la required with a home whether it la rented or owned.

The interest on the investment represented In the home la covered Just aa it la whether it ia rented or owned. "The home owner doea not have to mt for the Dossible vacancy al lowance, nor does he have to pay a "heavier charge to cover whatever loss the landlord would sustain during times when bla prpperty lies vacant. "The renter pays for his repairs and decorations as part of his rent bill. Of course the family that owns its own home must pay this charge directly, but every housewife knows ehe can make the charge for repairs and decorations in a home that is owned much lower."
