Services for the late merchant and manufacturer were held yesterday afternoon from his residence at 386 Sixty-first street by the Kov. Clarence Reed, pastor of the First Unitarian church. Gibson's death otcurred late Friday, and ended philanthropic work that had occupied him for more than ten years, and which enrlchedi virtually every charitable organization in this region.

During the last two years of his life this work was carried on despite the illness which caused his death. Gifts to charity of more than $500,000 included his early home at 8401 Sixty-sixth avenue to the Children's- Home Society of. California, his library to the Elmhurst branh library, a ranch in Leke county where mothers can take ill and undernourished children, and contributions to the Salvation Army, Del Valle Farm, the birth-control league, and many other clubs and societies. Gibson began his charitable work following the death of his son in 1819 and hiswife in 1920. He oame to Californiain 1874, and accumulated a considerable fortune 1 Vic.
