The scenic tract is an admirable home setting also because of its tree-clad hills covered with the immense oak trees, which induced the selection of the name Oakmore Highlands. Nothing is so distinctively Oakland, we should say, unless perhaps it is the gorgeous view1 of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate that every visitor to Oakmore Highlands so much en-Joys.

Oak trees and marine view are Indeed characteristic of Onkmore Highlands and they are the two specifications that almost every man and woman seeking for a homesite in Oakland has first in mind. "Give me a lot with oak trees on it, a lot that I can so build my house upon that I will be sure of always having a view of the bay or at least of the hills," say most seekers, and of course it must be near transportation." FEW NEAR CAR LINE That last specification, transportation, makes it difficult for the realtor to fill the order. There are many view lots, there are many Iota in and around Oakland that have oaks upon them, but in many Instances they are remote from car mtn- fll r- if 1 fflL Vo; mmi tUliii lip. oakmore 1. in California come from? This state has experienced such a tremendous development dur ing the last quarter century that it has attracted the attention of every corner of the globe, yet very little, or anything has been said regarding the influx of prospective residents from other countries.

An analysis of government Immi gration statistics just made by the Texaco Travel Service discloses that only two other states outrank California as a mecca for aliens, those States being New York and Texas. The figures for last year, the latest available at the time of the Texaco report was drafted. With the exception of Wassachu-, setts, which is fourth on the list, the other states received only a smattering of the year's quota. But in Oakmore Highlands the oak tree and view lots are close to the street to schools, only a short distance by automobile or street car from the down-town district, and prices range from $1500 to $4500 for sizeable lots. During the past three years the building of homes in Oakland has been going on at a much slower rate than prevailed in the preceding three years, yet during this time there has been splendid home building activity in the Lake district, i'iedmont and the adjoining hills. Now in Lakeshore Highlands, Trestle Glen and eastern I'iedmont there is more building under way than in any other similar urea in th Eastbay. Lots are at a premium. PRICES HIGHER Prices are much higher than they were a few years ago and oak-covered lots that afford marine view and that are situated close to a car line are almost impossible to find.
