MIXED" AIR, A.4.CK One of tha features of the 120 National Air Race to be held in Chicago next month will oe mixed-doubles relav race for men' and women pilots. This race will be the one exception to the old Federation Aeronautlque Internationale ruling which strictly prohibits men and women from com- netinr in authorized air races. Noted men and women fliers will be paired for the mixed-doubles aerial relay which will oe riown Between Chicago and Cleveland. Only one pilot will be at the controls at a time, each flying one-half of the race. If it does nothing else the event will provide a chanoe for comparing the respective flight racing ability of men and women flier.

DEAN SMITH HERE 1 Dean Smith, who was one of Admiral Richard Byrd'a pilots at the South Pole, arrived her yesterday by plane from Ijo Angeles en route to Portland to visit hi mother. Smith was a naaaena-er on the morning West ern Air' Express plane arriving at the bay airdrome. He, planned to leave by plane today for Portland. Charles former Oakland airport is the youngest. Sullivan, who Just passed birthday No. 29, I now flying for Pacific Air Transport between Oakland and San Diego. Although young in years, he is not young In flying having begun hi aerial day back In 111! with the navy. Sullivan graduated from the navy flying schools at San Diego and Pensacola.

For the past year-he has flown from the local field. Since January, Sullivan ha been instructing in the Boeing school at Oakland airport, leaving this post recently to fly the airmail. T-Wert Coast Air Transport, Buena Ventnr Will Be Added to Ports of Call of Panama Mail Service Ships With Monthly Service With th sailing of th Panama Malllinr City of Panama from here July 22, the company will Inaugurate regular passenger service every 28 days to Buena Ventura, Colombia. This Is the first time In several years that a regular service to Buena Ventura haa been established. The schedule will be main talned by the City of Panama and her sister-ship, ths City of San Francisco. The schedule time from Los Angeles harbor will be 21 days.

The City of Panama and th City of Ban Francleco offer refrigerator space, which will be an added Inducement to California shipper with perishable cargo destined to the Columbian port. Booth Company, one of the largest and oldest concerns of Its kind In the country, has taken a leas on the recently constructed warehouse of the Howard Terminal. Packing and shipping operation will be started with in a hort time. The T. E. Booth Company is one of the oldest packing concern In California.

It is the pioneer and now practically control th sardine packing and shipping industry, having large plants located at Monterey and other place along the Seast. The market for Booth packed fruits and sardines ha been developed not onV In th United Statee but In foreign countries a well and It is expected that the shipment over the Howard Terminal docke are going to amount to large figures.
