A penny day will be deposited in specal club savings banks in homes of in-di vidual members, and they will be opened on Founders' day, 1931. of the sums deposited, $1.25 go from each bank to the general federation, and a similar sum to the state federation. W. Zirker and Mre. Jesse D. Zirker, Little Theater Play Shows Big Success TRACY, May -The play "The Patsy," given by the Little theater of the Tarcy high school Friday and Saturday evenings was a huge success. Given under the direction of Mrs.

R. A. Baumgardner, instructor of dramatics in the school, the performances drew a large crowd on both evenings. Part of the proceeds will be given to the Commercial club to help finance the annual typing contest at the high school to be staged this month. The cast for the play consisted of Thelma Tachierschky, Inez Butler, Norene Pressey, Dorothy Murphy, Mildred Anderson, Genevieve, Herman, Edward Gilbert, Robert son, James Ryan, Noel Schnetter and Roger Duffy.

Moving of Parking Signs Suggested RICHMOND, May a letter to the city council, which met last night, J. T. Narbett, chairman of the community veterans mittee of the American Legion, suggested that parking signs be moved closer to the corners of streets. Narbett explained that the signs were so far from the corners that the parking space considerably shortened. The matter was referred to the street committee for Investigation.

OAKLAND FILM STAR BREAKS UNDER STRAIN Bernice Claire Jahnigen Has Nervous Collapse, and Influenza Feared. Bernice Claire Jahnigen, former Oakland high school girl, now a movie star, known to the stage and screen as Bernice Claire, was suffering a physical and nervous collapse today at her Hollywood home, according to dispatches received here. The condition of the Oakland actress, whose meteoric rise to stardom her featured in "No, No, and "The Desert Song," was described as serious by her physicians. Fear was expressed that her illness may develop into influenza. The strain of talking moving picture making, and the heat generated by studio lights illuminating her set, were blamed for her collapse.

She began her career as a member of The TRIBUNE Juveniles, later studied dramatics at the Oakland High school, and appeared in student musical comedy there. Additional study followed, and in 1927 she made her first appearance in Keith- Albee vaudeville, and had the distinction of "stopping the show" at the Palace in New York on her debut. Then came "The Desert Song" and now the talkles. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Funeral Is Held for San Leandro Woman LEANDRO, May and final rites were held at Merced yesterday for Mrs. Julia E. Serjeant, 62, of San Leandro, who died in Oakland last Friday.
