First publication Apr. 23, 1930. 48-tfc Barnes Circus which will puss through here Friday, May 9, and will show that day at Uklah. It is needless to add Hopland will be well represented in the crowd viewing the attraction at Uklah. Mrs.

Barbara Elkins and sister, Mrs. Ed. Heald, of Cloverdale, visited friends here and at Ukiah Easter Sunday. Hopland Boy Hurt. V.

I. Van Allen, local contractor, received word last week his son, Lloyd T. Van Allen, who has a position In San Diego, had received severe cuts about his head while swimming in a tank at the Y. M. C.

A. building in the southern city. The young man slipped nnd fell while entering the tank. It was necessary to take 12 studies in the scalp to close the wound. Lloyd Van Allen is a graduate of the Hopland high school and was highly regarded here.

Since going south he has made good business progress and Is member of the Y. M. C. A. Increasing Size Of Sheds.

Two are being added to the fruit packing sheds directly south of town. The building was erected in 1808 and the new space will double the capacity of the plant. Citizens Worried. It is claimed a tentative survey of the new highway, or rather the relocated highway which will come up the east side of Russian river, will strike some distance above Hopland and leave the town off on, a side road, ns it were. As the story goes the eastside highway will come into the Redwood Highway a short distance north of the Shlminin home.

Naturally Hopland residents who have property interests- In the. town are opposed to Hopland being Isolated. While it is true the town will be on the present highway, it can easily be understood how Hopland will be seriously handicapped by being left off the main highway. Local residents plan appealing to Senator Fred C. Handy requesting him to use his influence in making certain Hopland remains on the Redwood Highway.
