PAGE 2 THE RHINELANDER (WtS.) DAfLY NEWS DECEMBER IS, KUSHMAN AND KELLEY AWAIT INSTRUCTIONS Have No Information on Changes Ordered in CWA Administration. New Endurance Mark Is Aim of Women Flyers Beyond news dispatches front Madison, local officials today had no! further word on tho removal of Adolph Kushman, Knterpriso, I county CWA director, and the ap-l poinUnent of Dist. Atty. W. Kelley, Rhinelandpr, as regional director of CWA activities in Oneida, Forest, Vilna, iron and i'rico counties.

Neither Dist. Atty. Kelley nor Director Kushman had received any notices or instructions from Madison today, and their only information on the change was an Associated to The News last nieht. Dist. Atty.

Kelley has not decided ns yet. whether ho will accept the appointment as regional CWA director. He did not seek tho appointment, he said, nnd only last week, in writing Robert Johnson, state CWA chief, to urge that Kushman retained in charge of CWA activities. Dist. Atty.

Kelley enclosed an editorial from The Xews endorsing: Kushman. Duties Are Uncertain. It is not known whether the position is a salaried one or not, wheth-i er it requires full-time attention and considerable traveling about the counties in the district, and whether it could be handled in addition to the work of Oneida county's district attorney. The work of district attorney has'increased so in the past lew years that it now virtually is a full- time job and leaves almost no free time for routine office work and private practice. Besides his other duties, Dist.

Atty. Kelley also is attorney in Oneida county for the HOLC, the organization seeking to help distressed home owners re-finance their mortgages and loans. He expects to make no decision on the CWA appointment until after receiving complete information from Madison. But if the state has been slow In writing to its new regional directors, the applicants for work have not been. In Dist.

Atty. ley's mail this morning was a letter from a resident of Hurley, who was applying for a clerical position in the new regional CWA office. Apparently the man had read the Associated Press story in the Ironwood Globe last night. Six local residents also applied for employment in the regional CWA office today, but as. yet, of course, there is no regional' CWA office.

Other Directors Puzzled. Director Kushman said today he had received telephone calls from county CWA directors in Iron and Vilas counties, asking for Information on the new set-up, but none of the directors had received any information from Madison. An Associated Press dispatch to The News today from Madison stated that "all county CWA directors will'jjj remain in office until new regional i directors are acquainted with their duties." Expecting that his work as county CWA director will toe terminated shortly by the change announced yesterday, Director Kushman plans to return to active operation of two small logging camps which he has had operating for some time. These two camps employ about 25 men in getting out pulpwood and ties. Mr.
