Western Union Says No To Pay Pleas Of 30,000 NEW YORK, Feb.

24 -The Western Union Telegraph Co. informed more than 30.000 of its employees today it could not grant their demands of a pay increase and other benefits, The company's position was nounced in a letter from J. L. Wilcox, Vice President, to the Nathe Commercial Telegraphers Untional Bargaining Committee, of ion (AFL). After preliminary sessions, bargaining for a new contract is scheduled to resume in Washington tomorrow.

The present twoyear contract expires March 31. The union represents employees outside the New York metropolitan area. In the New York City region workers are represented by the American Communications Association (CIO), Mr. Wilcox said the AFL union made 42 demands that would cost $50 million a year and would be equivalent to a 50-cents-an-hour wage increase. Hourly earnings now average $1.65, the company said.

O'Sullivan, New York attorney, is in Cincinnati to locate the descendants--if any- of Edward Flynn, who last was heard from in Cincinnati in 1865. A relative of Mr. Flynn's, who was born in County Galway, Ireland, about 1825, died recently in the East, leaving an estate valued in excess of $50,000.
