E-10 THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRERFriday, June 26, 1981 Add Directors WORLD PREMIERE To List Of Strikers if I i NUiS LOS ANGELES (AP) With a strike deadline less than a week away, the Directors Guild of America has revised its proposal for sharing home video profits, the key sticking point in contract talks with producers. A directors' walkout would shut down the television and movie industry, already crippled by three other strikes within 12 months. The directors have named Jackie Cooper head of their 22-man strike preparedness committee, and say they will strike Wednesday unless there is an agreement on a new contract for the union's 6,400 members. The sharing of profits from pay television, video discs and video cassettes was the major issue on which actors and musicians struck for 10 weeks last summer and fall, delaying the start of most new television shows until mid-October or November. SCREENWRITERS ARE now in the 11th week of a strike against the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Sharing the home video purse also has been a major obstacle to an agreement. The proposal made by the Directors Guild of America this week was a combination of a formula the directors had previously proposed, the formula the actors agreed to and the formula the writers wanted, said guild spokesman Dan Swinton. The producers and actors agreed on a "window" formula giving union members a percentage of producers' profits after a program either has been broadcast a fixed number of times or over a fixed period of time on pay or cable television systems, or has sold in excess of a fixed number of video disc or cassette units.
