Teddy bears pay tribute to twin fire victims Dozens visit scene Saturday By Jim Hannah said. The investigation into LUDLOW A car stops in front of 107 Elm a small girl steps out and stretches to sit a white teddy bear on top of a stone wall in front of the burned out home. Jessica Sebastian, 10, of Covington was one of dozens of people Saturday who came to the scene of a house fire that killed twin 4-year-old girls and their great-grandmother late Thursday night in Ludlow.

"My mother said the bear could be their Christmas gift in heaven," Sebastian said. "I just wanted to do something for them." Funeral arraignments for twins Madisynn and McKynsee Spencer and their greatgrandmother Nancy "Carole" Spencer are being handled by Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home but were not finalized as of Saturday afternoon. The funerals are likely to be Tuesday or Wednesday. That didn't stop people like Jessica from paying respects to the family.

By Saturday afternoon more than a dozen teddy bears lined the stone wall in front of the burned home. "I want the family to remember we are praying for them," said Stephanie Hall, 47, of Kenton County. "I'm a mother and can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child. It's such a tragedy." The twins' father, Dustin Spencer, was rescued from a third-story window by firefighters. His wife and the twin's mother, Beth Spencer, escaped out the front side door of the home with the couple's 2-year-old, Ethan Spencer.

Beth Spencer's 11-year-old daughter, Christina Renaker, also escaped the home but sustained burns on her arm and face. She remained Saturday at Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati. Some people on Saturday left personal messages in the form of notes and prayers at the home for the survivors. "It's such a sad, sad event just before Christmas," said John Reynolds, 52, of Covington. "I wanted to come by to show my support for the family.

We have to help each other out to survive this world." Ludlow Fire Chief Matt Chastain arrived at the scene 30 seconds after receiving the alarm at 10:52 p.m. but the fire was too intense for him to enter the back room of the home to save the twins and their great-grandmother. Authorities and family members think they were trying to exit the back door. There were no smoke detectors in the home, Chastain said. Overloaded electrical wiring is being blamed for the fast-moving blaze, Chastain Obituaries at Cincinnati.Com Data Center If you missed a death notice, you can search the area's most comprehensive listing of paid and editorial obituaries at Cincinnati.Com.

died in Cincinnati on November 29, 2010, at the age of 95. The eldest daughter of Waldo and Carrie McBeth Trisler, she was born on the family farm near Hamersville, Ohio, on November 11, 1915. After graduating from Bethel-Tate High School in 1933, Alice married Theodore T. Marksbury in 1934. To this union were born two sons who died in infancy.

Ted and Alice spent more than thirty years in farming, including twenty on the Trisler family homestead near Hamersville, and then moved to Bethel. The couple belonged to the Bethel Methodist Church before transferring their membership to the Hamersville Bible Chapel United Church. After Ted's death in 1976, Alice began to work in the library of the Clermont County Hospital, and showed an active curiosity in learning new skills such as faxing and later the use of computers and e-mail. Alice was a lifelong music lover. With her clear soprano voice, she was a mainstay of the choirs at all the churches she attended, and, at the Twin Towers retirement home, continued to sing with the choir well into her 90s.

She was also a lover of opera, and could take part very knowledgeably in debates about the best tenors or sopranos of the past seven decades. A devoted wife, a loving sister to her siblings Dorothy and Rachel, who preceded her in death, and a doting aunt, Alice will be greatly missed by her nieces, Mary Althaus, of Tokyo, Japan, Fran Althaus, of New York, and Diane Althaus Dodaro, of Seattle. The memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Wilson Chapel of Twin Towers, 5343 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224. Donations in Alice Marksbury's name may be made to the music program at Twin Towers. Condolences to hodappfuneralhome.com.

Port Charlotte the fire was conducted with the assistance of the state fire marshal's office. The more than 100-year-old home was being heated by multiple space heaters plugged into extension cords, Chastain said. The gas to the home was disconnected. Dustin Spencer's father, Scott Spencer, said the gas was apparently cut off because his son didn't have the money to pay for a $1,500 repair on the furnace. It was a fact Scott Spencer, of Menifee County, said he didn't know until after the fire.

"It is just a bad situation," Scott Spencer said. "It is very tragic."
