Man dies after slipping under wheels of Metro bus The Enquirer DOWNTOWN A man who was run over by a Metro bus early Wednesday died at University Hospital Wednesday night. Howard A.

Swartz, 47, with no known address, fell from the sidewalk in front of the public library on Vine Street and was struck by the right-side rear wheels of the bus. "Our bus driver didn't realize she had hit anything," said Sallie Hilvers, Metro spokeswoman. "Neither did any of the passengers. Another bus came upon the scene shortly after and called for assistance." Swartz was taken to University Hospital with critical injuries to his lower torso and legs, according to Cincinnati police. Swartz often stayed on the streets downtown, Cincinnati Traffic Unit officials said.

Police said Swartz approached the Metro bus from the rear as it was stopped on Vine Street south of Ninth Street. As the bus continued northbound, Swartz fell from the sidewalk and was run over. The Metro bus that hit Swartz at 6:25 a.m. was headed to the Park area with four passengers, Hilvers said. The bus was gone when Cincinnati firefighters responded.

Police later held the driver, Darnelle Foster, 35, of Westwood, and the bus on Central Parkway north of the Western Hills Viaduct until investigators could talk to her. Foster has been with Metro just under two years, Hilvers said. No charges have been filed, investigators said. poos death notices ADAMSON Evelyn Frances (nee Johnson), age 88, born August 28, 1919.
