the Carpenters Union for a contract agreement with the Associated General Contractors The carpenters said earlier in the week that if an agreement had not been reached by the deadline a strike was 'author ized to begin next week But spokesmen for both sides said Wednesday that progress had been made and negotiations probably would continue past the deadline meeting of the carpenters and the con her honor at Cedarcrest Res taurant Wednesday evening She spoke of the many loyal friends she depends on and ex pressed her appreciation to them as she accepted the hon or Mrs Hanenburg the former Jane Kenton daughter of the late Mr and Mrs rank Ken ton of Everett moved to Mount Vernon in 1948 and came to in 1952 She was nominated by the Log Cabin Club and St Guild of St Episcopal Church She was selected by a secret committee from club and indi vidual letters on numerous nom inees Jane is currently president of the Log Cabin Club and has served as ways and means chairman secretary program chairman and treasurer at vari ous times She was president of St Guild from 1963 to 1965 and chairmanned their 1964 bazaar She reorganized Camp ire in Marysville in 1954 and was the first president of Auxiliary of oun dation to Everett General Hos pital She instituted room moth ers for Marysville High School PTA and served as insurance representative for three years Since losing her sight in 1957 she has been a continual inspir ation to her many friends She ehjoys playing "cafdsr knitting and swimming Ironing and cooking are among her many other activities Her enthusiasm memory vigor courage and positive attitude towards lifens a challenge to everyone Mrs' Hanenburg gave many hours in the development of a Direct Distance Dialing device of West Coast Telephone Co which resulted in the hiring of sightless telephone operators She is presently aiding the staff of Everett Providence Resident Home in rehabilitating and el derly blind man by teaching him Braille Jane 'and her husband Carl reside at 4356 Cedar in Marys ville with their son Ross a sen ior in Marysville High School Their daughter (Mrs Robert Sapp) has two children Layne and Karla and reside in Marysville A capacity crowd attended the dinner Wednesday evening in Mrs honor George Deu Pree past presi dent introduced the former re cipients of Marysville Woman of Achievement awards as Mrs Wi Rose Mrs Lucile Wilson Mrs Gladys Colp and Mrs Mary Koch Mrs Kenneth Pad gett president thanked the committee and chairman Mrs Ralph Murdock who was absent due to a death in her family Mrs Robert Sapp daughter was given the honor of present ing the 1965 Woman of Achieve ment pin to her mother Mayor Jack Gardner congratulated Mrs Hanenburg and thanked her for her many civic activi ties Mrs Gardner presented a bouquet of
