There A Sixtyfive Pound Blue Channel Cat in a Log, Kansas C'lty Henry Heinrich, a well-known and reliable farmer who lives on the Moreau River, twelve miles from Jefferson City, came to town to-day with the most remarkable fish story over related. The beauty of the story, aside from its singularity, is that it is absolutely true, a feature that is utterly lacking in a majority of piscatorial anecdotes. A few days ago Mr.

Heinrich and one of his sons were fishing in the Moreau. They were standing on the trnnk of a big sycamore tree that had fallen out over the stream and was partly submerged in the water A peculiar bumping noise that came from the inside of the log attracted their attention, and they began to investigate. They supposed at first that there was some sort of a wild animal in the hollow of the log, and on cutting it open were astounded to find thafc ib a sixty-five pound catfish. The fish had evidently made a trip into the hollow log during high water and did not attempt to get DRIVE TURKS BACK. For Another Hearing May Be the Sentence of Murderer Frantz, Cor.UMKL'8, May R. M. Nevin, of Dayton, sprang a surprise on the Supreme Court to-day in the case of Albert Frantz, condemned to be electrocuted May 18.

He appeared and stated that the case had been taken up to the Circuit Court on a bill of exceptions within the 50 days allowed by law, and would be regularly heard, but the court had notified him that it would not be able to hoar the case until it eat in Dayton, which would not be until the last of this month, or more than half a month after the date of execution, unless the sentence was suspended. The Circuit Court had also informed him that it would be glad to suspend sentence, but the law, by a recent amendment, had placed the sole power to suspend sentence in such a case in the hands of the Su- premo Court or two members thereof. The court took the matter under consultation, and finally decided that it would have to suspend the sentence. no power The Circuit Court will now, doubtless, grant the suspension.
