5 of a heart attack in Tucson, Ariz. The Columbia, S.C., resident was 69. He was "very serious about work (and) very serious about having fun," said his brother, James M. Fallon of Milford. "When he was working he was a typical officer in the Marine Corps; but when it was time to have fun, he knew how to do that, too.

Col. Fallon was born in Cleveland on Jan. 7, 1937. About three years later, his family moved to Silverton, where he up. grew A member of the St.

Xavier High School Class of 1954, he attended Xavier University from 1954 until 1957, when he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam from September 1967 until October 1968, flying the RF-4B Phantom II aircraft. "I think he approached it just like anything else," said his brother about Col. Fallon joined the staff of the Naval Air Systems Command in Washington i in 1972. In 1975, he attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, Va.
