Welfare Club on Concepts in Residential Care for the Mentally Mrs Kurzer described the in stitutions of the past as being large isolated and costodial in nature Admissions and discharges were few waiting lists were long and programs were frequently inadequate Institutionization usually meant that the mentally han i a person was permanently removed from the community The emphasis in the treatment and rehabilitation of the mentally retarded is now shifting to the community The community is assuming the primary responsibility meeting the needs of its popula tion Schools clinics workshops and social agencies are develop ing programs and services for the retarded The handicapped are removed from the family and community only as a last resort The institution is becoming a part of a comprehensive pro gram for the mentally han dicapped with the major emphasis at the community level This has resulted in smaller institutions with therapeutic programs and more short term admission continues to provide long term care for the severely retarded of this area however the importance of short term admission for treatment of the mentally retarded and his return to a community program is beintx emphasized Mrs Kurzer also stressed the importance of the agencies who serve the retarded co erdinating their urograms and I use of the institution perhaps nugh the establishment of a board or council will become an integral part of this community not only presenting some of the finest movies available but special events The lobby lends itself to art displays to be provided by spaciousness The centered refreshment stand allows a free flow of traffic to the two en trances into the auditorium I It is in the three sectioned auditorium along wtih the in tricately equipped projection booth that the complexities of advancements made in the film industry will overshadow the peacock blues and greens of the luxurious decor 'After noting that the plush fabric covered seats are form fitting that the two aisles are Carpeted in a lush green and that the walls from front to back top to bottom are con cealed with glistening blue green drapes the audience will relax to a movie occasion seldom experienced probably without knowing why The is Ultra Vision a system closely akin to Cimerama and so recently ar rived from testing and ex perimentation that Terrace Theatre will be one of 10 theatres in the country to feature this innovation Ultra Vision was perfected for Wil Kin Inc by Glenn Berg gren a young engineer and op tics specialist It was Berggren who accepted an Academy Award in 1968 for Kollmorgen Corporation which was cited for its lens development program Technically describing Ultra Vision the system uses two 35 mm projectors posi tioned at a angle and which project into a optiveter This transmittal box permits the two projectors to their light image into a single center beam thus hitting the movie screen at one perfect right angle In terms this means that Ultra Vision is the ultimate in theatre projection and sound Spectators can even sit on the front row and see no distortion on the screen Ultra Vision brings extra depth and defini tion to the film But it is recom mended that actually have to see and feel Ultra Vision to know what all The deep curved wall to wall screen is custom designed to enhance both depth and color Eagles was
