theater was for Bjarne Moe Seattle archi tect and designer of the structure a homecoming event Mr Moe came to Everett when he was 3 years old and attended grade and high schools here He is also a graduate of the University of Washington Upon' completing his studies at university Mr Moe associatedMiself for some time with prom inent Seattle architectural firms having been with Schach Young Myers and in the office of Reamer who built the Metropoli tan Building company's group of buildings in Seattle as well as sev eral prominent theaters in the Northwest or the past three years Mr Moe has been consulting engineer for Shearer company This firm specializes in theater furnishings and building and its operations cover the entire Pacific coast Commenting upon the architec ture of the new Ruxy theater Mr Moe states that it was designed and built in the contemporary moderne manner which through a Normative period of the last few years is unquestionably here to stay he says been built with the idea of giving the patron the utmost in safety and comfort and at the same time maintaining harmonious surround New Roxy Theater to Open to Public Here on Thursday Evening (Continued egress from the rear The heating and ventilating equipment installed by the Tait Engineering company of Everett is proclaimed the most modern in the Northwest The ventilating system is thermostatically con trolled and Is capable of furnishing 75000 cubic feet of air every min ute and giving complete change of pure controlled air every two and one half minutes The entryway of the theater is as attractive as the lobby The under side of the marquee has been painted a bright white and is bril liantly lighted Against the white of the building the Chinese red and trimmed doors stand out in marked contrast' The floor of the entryway is of a multi patterned rubber Centering in front of the doors is a neon topped double faced display case one side Jan Kiepura Stare in eature public at 1 Thursday evening Jan Klepura the screen's latest singing star will be seen in the feature presentation of the opening bill Heart Is Mr Klepura was a success in the production Mine and his current picture is now in its second week in Seattle ollowing the opening en gagement announces Charles manager the theater will open daily at 12:45 The first show will start at 1 and continu ous showings will be presented un til late in the evening Starting with the opening pro gram for the gala premier of the Roxy theater Thursday evening Mr Charles has announced a defi direct to the Roxy from New York by airmail Mr Charles decided on the 12:45 opening he stated because he felt that such an hour would give business men the opportunity to see the latest news as well as a diversified program of short subjects after their lunch hour The complete opening program for the Roxy includes the following first run subjects from major mo tion picture studios: Unit No 1 Universal News reel Roxy theater has proven a homecoming is Sirs Charles wife of the "manager of the new show honse Mrs Charles formerly Miss Doris Paschke was an Everett girl She was married to Mr Charles when he was in this city as manager of theaters for the Star Amusement company technicolor novelty Unit No 4 Brevi nite policy of one major feature production embellished with a carefully selected program of short subjects One of the featured short subjects will be the Universal News Weekly to be shown on every program with changes twice weekly Universal Weekly will be off the being rushed showing pictures now playing and the other side showing coming events The south front of the building is given over to the office the' win dow of which is also utilized as a display case Adjoining the office is the ticket
