6-B Qixtlln'shw Saturday Morning, November 15, 1980 DJ industrial average soars Legal Notices Legal Notices 1 CAROLYN ADAMS PUTS last minute price tags on clothing items in preparation for the gigantic Trash and Treasure Sale. Trash Treasure Sale set today A Trash and Treasure Sale will be held today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 805 Tremont, South End. The sale was organized by parents of students at Trinity Episcopal School and proceeds from the sale will benefit the educational programs at that elementary school.

According to school Headmistress Elizabeth Hollamon, "everything under the sun" will be sold at the large rummage sale. "We will sell clothes, appliances, books, toys, plants, furniture, glassware, cameras. In fact, we will sell something of everything except live animals," Ms. Hollamon said. "Items to be sold here were donated from parents of students, other relatives and friends of the school.

Their support in supplying quality items has been astounding. "Many of the items have never been used. For example, some of the clothing items for children are like new," Ms. Hollamon said. "Many were worn only a couple of times." Ms.

Hollamon emphasized the large number of good toys to be sold at the trash and Treasure Sale are ideal for Christmas gifts. "Plenty of toys in good condition will be for sale," she said. "And with Christmas right around the corner, parents, grandparents and other relatives and friends will have an excellent opportunity to do a lot of buying toys for Marine log Christmas now, and at a substantially reduced cost." According to. Ms. Hollamon, the funds raised by the sale will be used by the school in support of the many educational available there.

"The cost of everything, including quality education, has gone up. To continue to provide the very best in educational excellence, Trinity School must raise additional funds. We hope this Trash arid Treasure Sale, where everyone can find something good to buy, will provide those needed funds," Ms. Hollamon said. Trinity School is a coeducational day school for preschool nursery through the sixth grade.

Founded by the Vestry, of Trinity Episcopal Church in 1952, the school provides a superior academic education in a Christian environment. The tuition at Trinity School, the lowest in the Southwest and one of the lowest rates in the nation for comparable schools, is intentionally kept low to allow all qualified students to enter. Trinity School derives its income from three sources: tuition and supply fees (82 percent), endowments (10 percent), and donations and gifts (8percent). The bulk of Trinity School's operating budget goes directly to teachers' salaries. Three percent is- used for financial aid for those students unable to afford the low tuition fee.

New Miss World resigns in huff BERLIN (UPI)-Gabriella Brum, the 18-year-old blond beauty who won the Miss World contest, resigned her hours-old title Friday and flew home in a huff to Berlin because of newspaper reports she had posed nude for her 52-year-old boyfriend in the United States. Kimberly Santos of Guam, the runner-up in Thursday's contest, became the new Miss World automatically. But Miss Santos, a 19-year-old brunette, already was flying to San Francisco aboard a Pan American jet and did not learn the news immediately. Miss Brum resigned after winning the Miss World title in London late Thursday because she didn't wanted "to go along with the racket surrounding a Miss World and to put up with it for a whole year," her stepfather said earlier.

Her mother, Angelika Roure, 39, collected her at Berlin airport on a flight Propeller Club meeting Wednesday GALVESTON PROPELLER CLUB members should make reservations by Monday for Wednesday's meeting at St. Peter's Community Center, 69th and Avenue The meal will be Texas style shrimp gumbo. The meeting will be held at the Wentletrap Restaurant, 2301 Strand, ACLUsuit alleges prayer in school song HOUSTON (UPI) The American Civil Liberties Union Friday filed federal suit against a suburban school district, saying one of its schools has a religious prayer as a school song and copies of the New Testament were distributed to students. The suit was filed on behalf of a mother and her son, an elementary student in the Aldine district. It asks $15,000 in damages and a preliminary injunction to stop the district from infringing on religious rights.

The plaintiffs were identified only as Jane and John Doe. The suit charged the district was impinging upon the mother's "freedom to determine the religious training of her minor ACLU attorney David Eisen said the child's mother attended night classes at Aldine High School where she saw words of a school song inscribed over the entrance to an auditorium. The song read: "Dear God, please bless our school and all it stands for. Help keep us free from sin, honest and true, courage and faith to make our school the victor. In Jesus's name we pray.

Amen." The song was written in 1951 by a student as part of a contest, said Frances Sloan, secretary to the school district superintendent. "The kids sing it at every football game," she said. Eisen said John Doe and his class were called into the library at his school last year where representatives of Gideon International handed out New Testaments. Mrs. Sloan said that practice had been ended on advice of school district lawyers but she quoted Superintendent M.O.

Campbell as saying, "A judge will have to tell us "not to use the song, not the ACLU." Lunch, consisting of seafood, salad, vegetable and tea, is $10 and begins at noon. Officers for the coming year will also be elected at the meeting. The nominating committee has proposed as candidates Larry Vela, for chairman; L.D. Spittle, for vice chairman; and Pat Lantier as secretary-treasurer. Nominations will also be taken from the floor.

Miss Brum quit in anger only 14 hours after she was chosen from a field of 68 international beauties vying for the Miss World title at London's Royal Albert Hall. She appeared at London's Heathrow Airport wearing a long fur coat over a blue track suit, strode up to the British Airways counter and asked startled officials, "How can I get to Berlin? I have to get there today. "Get me home," they quoted her as saying.

"I'll sleep on the floor. I'll do anything. Just get me to Berlin tonight." Contest organizers said the reasons for her resignation were not immediately clear although it- appeared that the West German beauty was furious at British newspaper reports that quoted her boyfriend as saying she once posed in the nude for him and was expelled from school. The Miss World organizers indicated they had not asked hgr to resign and Miss Brum herself made no immediate "This morning Gabriella was a very happy young lady," said Mrs. Julia Morley, the contest organizer.

"I really can't tell if it was the publicity that triggered it off. "She told us she does not wish to hold the title of Miss World and having discussed the matter with her we agreed to respect her request." Rumors that she planned to resign began circulating as soon as British tabloids hit the stands with reports about her romantic involvement with Benno Bellenbaum, a 52-year-old film producer living in Hollywood. One newspaper, The New Standard, said it reached Bellenbaum in Hollywood and quoted him as saying that while Miss Brum had once been expelled from school, she had done nothing wrong. "She has only ever posed nude for photographs for me, not for anybody else," Bellenbaum was quoted as saying. With the Miss World title went a cash prize of $12,000 and business contracts worth $36,000.

They now go to Miss Guam. The Miss World contest was unusual this year for banning figures on the contestants' measurements, saying the international beauties should be judged more for their personalities. finished at 986.87 on Jan. 10, 1977. It gained 53.93 points for the week.

The largest weekly gain was 73.61 points the period ended Oct. 11, 1974. The Dow had been up more than 9 points to around 992 before profit-takers cashed in on their gains. The attempt at the 1,000 level came exactly eight years after the Dow crossed the 1,000 level for the first time ever, finishing at 1,003.16 on Nov. 14,1972.

Observers said the market surged this week behind Ronald Reagan's victory over President Carter because Wall Street believes the Republican will increase defense spending and call for tax incentives for business to boost production. The Dow transportation average rose 3.36 to a record 391.96. The New York Stock Exchange index gained 0.38 to 78.96 and the price of a share increased 19 cents.
