"She has always felt that God would never give her more than she could handle," said her daughter, Kerry Grote Mock, of Mount Washington. Central to her faith was the belief that one couldn't receive without giving. She made a custom of giving away jars of her chocolate sauce, and" the love that accompanied it was most appreciated. That love prompted her to volunteer for the Soup Kitchen in Over-the-Rhine, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, and the Louise Suggs Scholarship Fund in Georgia. Mrs.

Grote believed that an investment in children was an investment in the future of society. She was born Maria Klinker, one in a family of four girls, in Columbus. After earning a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, she worked as a dental hygienist until she married Richard W. Grote in 1964. Mrs.

Grote "spent 37 years married to her best friend," said her daughter. Together they traveled the world and played the best golf courses. They had a home in Sea Island, and loved sharing it with friends and family. Mrs. Grote took special delight in her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Richard, and daughter, Kerry, she is survived by another daughter, Marie Dyer Grote of San Francisco; a son, John Barrett Grote of Dallas; three sisters, Mary Jo Minor of Columbus, Barb Sheehan of Hilton Head, S.C., and Jackie Hammond of Worthington, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Robert Keeton was exec By Rebecca Billman The Cinrinmli Enquirer Robert Keeton had the opportunity to be assistant secretary of commerce during the Nixon administration, but uprooting his young children or moving to Washington without his family was unthinkable. Instead, he remained in his position as head of Procter Gamble's economic research department until he retired in 1989.

"He was very principled and caring," said his son David of Green Township. Mr. Keeton died Thursday of a stroke at Twin Towers Nursing Home in College Hill. The former Green Township resident was 77. He was born in Salyersville, and was studying at the University of Cincinnati when he entered the Army during World War II.

Sent to Utah for training at Brigham Young University, he dined with a local family on Thanksgiving in 1943. On that occasion, he met Ruth Hansen, daughter of the hosts. Mr. Keeton soon went to France and Germany with the 70th Army Infantry Division. After his return to the States in 1946, he married Miss Hansen in Los Angeles.

They moved to Kennedy Heights, and he resumed his studies at UC. Mr. Keeton received a bachelor's degree in business administration and began working for in 1948. Mr. Keeton was on the U.S.

Department of Commerce's Economic Advisory Board and the Bureau of Labor Statistics Price Index Committee. In addition to his son David, survivors include his wife; two other sons, William of Hyde Park and Michael of Rossville, a daughter, Karen of West Chester Township; a brother, Joe, of Bradenton, and 12 grandchildren.
