Tillinghast, who co-founded Senco Products died Wednesday from heart failure at his winter home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Hyde Park resident was 74. A native Cincinnatian, Mr.

Tillinghast graduated from Western Hills High School and attended the University of Cincinnati for two years before venturing into the fastening business. At age 25, Mr. Tillinghast ber of Commerce; the Sales and Marketing Executives Club's Cincinnati chapter; the Southern Ohio District Export Council, Government Task Force Committee on Business; and Wilmington College. He also was a member of the Cincinnati Airport Advisory Committee and chaired the Aviation Development Commit tee. He recently was named de bought the stapling distributorship where he worked in Detroit.

To committee chairman Homes founda velopment tion for Memorial to raise money to build Episcopal retirement homes. In 1983, the Society for Ad address the need for air-powered fastening systems in the vancement of Management named him Man of the Year. 13 Quentin K. Stoley YELLING, Clarence Jan. II Joseph R.Gorr Mr. Tillinghast automotive industry, he and his partner, A.G. Juilfs, pioneered the first automatic stapler in 1949 and formed Senco to manufacture fasteners as well as tools.

Senco is one of the world's largest manufacturers of air-powered fastening systems and a leader in the construction industry. As chairman, Mr. Tillinghast guided Senco's sales, marketing and distribution growth. His efforts were recognized when Senco received the President's award" in 1962 for excellence in exports and again in 1970 for contributions to world trade. Mr.

Tillinghast also was a leader in community service, holding chairman and trusteedirector positions with organizations including: the American Red Cross' Cincinnati chapter; the School Foundation of Cincinnati; the Industrial keting Executives International Academy of Achievement. "He was a workaholic he really worked hard for Cincinnati," said his wife, Helga M. Tillinghast. "He had a great enthusiasm for life. We were married for over 30 years I loved him dearly." Also surviving are a daughter, Donna Casey of West Chester; two stepdaughters, Camille Tillinghast of Fort Lauderdale and Madelynn Matlock of Westwood; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the George H. Rohde Son Funeral Home, 3183 Linwood Mount Lookout. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross' Cincinnati-area chapter.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Church (Deerfleld Beach), Disabled American Veterans, and held lifetime membership in the Knights of Columbus and BPOE (Elks). Angel, a Northern Kentucky civic, political and business leader, died of cancer Saturday at University Hospital. The Fort Thomas resident was 68.

Ms. Angel, a Holmes High School graduate, worked as a butcher and a bookkeeper before she started selling real estate from her Taylor Mill home. She opened the first Vera Angel Realty office in 1957. She was named Realtor of the Year in 1973, 1975 and 1980, and served the Kenton-Boone Board of Realtors in many positions, culminating as director and president in 1979. As her business prospered, her interests and involvements grew as well.

"She found the time. She was a friend to everyone," said her son, Daryl Angel of Fort Thomas. When asked to serve on boards and campaigns, she did. Her civic commitments included service to Thomas More College, Northern Kentucky University, Georgetown College, United Appeal, Goodwill Industries and the Covington Diocesan Catholic Children's Home. She was the first woman elected Covington city commissioner, in 1968, and the first woman elected director (1979) and president (1981) of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

She also served as director of the Kentucky State Chamber of Commerce from 1984-86.
