He received a bachelor of science degree from Princeton University and a doctor of medicine degree from Harvard University College of Medicine. In addition to his wife and son, Dr. Garber is also survived by two daughters, Francie Pepper of Wyoming and Helen Garber of Med-ford, another son, Stanley Thomas Garber Jr. of Wyoming; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be 2 p.m.

Saturday, at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, 1345 Grace Ave. There will be no visitation. Burial was private. Memorials may be made to the Stanley T. For many years he led department at General Hospital BY SHARON MORGAN The Cincinnati Enquirer Dr. Stanley T. Garber, an obstetrician and gynecologist for more than 50 years, died of a stroke Tuesday, at Christ Hospital. The Mount Lookout resident was 87. Dr.

Garber was an optimistic person with high standards and integrity, said his son, David Garber of Mariemont. "He was a good person and loved his work," he said. "The city was his family, and he touched many people's lives. All of our lives people have told us how much they appreciated the joy my father brought into their lives." In April 1995, Dr. Garber received a lifetime achievement award from the Cincinnati Obstetrical Society.

In 1935, he began his private practice along with his uncle, the late Dr. Henry Woodward. Dr. Garber held staff privileges at Cincinnati General Hospital, now University Hospital, where he served as chairman of obstetrics from 1946 to 1967. Dr.

White Sons Apr. 12 Gilligan ANSCHUTZ R.G. age 91, Monroe, OH, passed away Palm Sunday afternoon at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village where he had lived since 1984. He was a retired professional mechanical engineer who worked for engineering firms In Michigan and Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn In October 1983. They were married Easter morning in 1936 In Saginaw, Ml. He was born In Duluth, MN on January 9, 1905 and moved to Saginaw as a young boy. He is survived by a son and his wife, R.G. "Skip" and Shirley Anschutz, Littleton, NC; a daughter and her husband, Esther and Gunter Golde, Tokyo, Japan, and four grandchildren, Mrs.

Susan Walker, Richard G. Anschutz, Karin E. Golde, and Erika M. Golde. He was a member of the AH Saints Episcopal Church of Cincinnati, the Salina Lodge 155 of Saginaw and Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati.

He was a founding member of the American College of Obstet-ricsGynecology and a founding member of the Association of Professors of OBGYN. Dr. Garber also provided services at Bethesda Hospital, Jewish Hospital and Christ Hospital. In 1982, Dr. Garber retired from private practice to take care of his first wife, the late Frances Davis Garber.

He married Marietta Kelley Garber in 1985. John E. Pepper, chief executive officer of Procter Gamble, said that his father-in-law was "a second father to me for 30 years." Dr. Garber "combined high standards and integrity with a positive outlook on life. He never complained.

He had personal strength and courage. He shared himself, because he liked people so much." GREGG The Cincinnati Enquirer In the last month of a prolonged battle with cancer, a weak Frederic Shaffer wouldn't let up on one of his strongest beliefs.

1 Too sick to make it himself, he called friends to make sure they would picket local abortion clinics and try to turn young women away from their decisions to abort their pregnancies. "He walked every Saturday that he could in the regular rotation at the clinic," said his son, David Shaffer. "There was nothing left of him, but he was still calling other people to go out there." Frederic Shaffer, 67, died Monday at his Madeira home. The lifelong Cincinnati resident was known for his steadfast faith. Amanda Lane Jones, 74, was founder of CHUMS Amanda Louise Lane Jones, founder of the Cincinnati Chapter of CHUMS and an educator, died of cancer March 30. The Silverton resident was 74. "She was kind and always gave a person a chance. She was my best friend, and I'm blessed to have had a mother like her," said Michele J. Harris of Silverton.

Fred L. Clark, 83, was WWII Navy veteran Fred L. Clark of Middletown died Sunday at Christ Hospital. The Carlisle, native was 83.

Mr. Clark lived in Middletown for 54 years, attending the Second Baptist Church in Middletown and Tried Stone Masonic Lodge 83. He was a veteran of the Navy and served in World War II. He retired from Diamond International as a Class A machine operator after 33 years of service. Survivors include: his wife, Edna; one son, George "Bobby" Clark of Middletown; two grandchildren, Kenneth Clark of Dayton and Ronald Clark of Middletown; three great-grandchildren, Chance and Cedric Clark of Dayton, and Tiffiany Clark of Middletown.
