Grateful thanks. RMZ Judge too quick to acquit By STEPHEN BINDMAN Southam Newspapers OTTAWA oose lips, it appears, sink judges Latoo. The Supreme Court of Canada has overturned the acquittal of a Toronto man because the judge at his trial announced he was not guilty even before the trial was finished.

But the Ontario Court of Appeal ordered a new trial, saying the judge had "plainly and prematurely" stated his view and should have declared a mistrial. "What happened, in our view, constitutes a miscarriage of justice," the appeal court said. On Friday, the Supreme Court agreed with that ruling without even calling on a Crown lawyer to present her arguments. At the trial, the girl testified Coreas forced her to sleep in his bed and then had intercourse with her for more than an hour. But the judge said it was "improbable" though not impossible that such a young girl could have intercourse for such a long period of time without suffering any physical harm.
