Thf various standing coniniittees reported. Thore were some changes made in the sewer plans, a hundred feet taken off from unnecessary locations and laid in other portions of the town where the growth seemed to demand. The police judge's report was read and accepted. The report showed a net cash earning for the c ity of $541-10. The auditor made a report sent in by Health Officer Judd, stating that only two patients now remained in the pest house, and they would In all probability be discharged very soon. The report stated, however, that It might be advisable to quarantine against the town of Deadwood very soon ; that the health officer of that city had informed him that there were four new cases yesterday, making now in all nineteen, and that it was no question that it was genuine smallpox. The city treasurer's report was read and accepted. Ordinance No. 127. establishing curb grades, etc., was read the third time and passed. A franchise ordinance for the B. H. Telephone and Telegraph company, was read for the first time and referred. The mayor then appointed a sewer committee under the recent ordinance passed by the council. This committee is to be a regular standing committee of the council in the future. The fortunate aldermen are Campbell, Peterson and Magnussen. There being a vacancy in the rep-resentatation of the Fourth ward, caused by the death of Alderman Putnam, a special election was ordered to be held on the 15th to fill the vacancy. A petition asking for a sidewalk was read from the citizens of Terry e venue, and was referred to the committee on sidewalks. There was then some talk on matters of treating jail prisoners, police work, etc., after which the council adjourned. The Current Events club will meet with Mrs. W. R.
