Miyazakl The Mount Airy water tower at Colerain and North Bend roads is a landmark at night thanks to a $30,000 project made possible by donations from about 150 businesses and people. Sponsored by the Mount Airy Town Council, the job was done in two phases. The first, lighting the walls of the 64-year-old reservoir from the ground, was started July 19 and completed July 25. The second, lighting the six turrets' windows, began Aug. 7 and was completed Aug. 23. Timers shut off the ground lights and one of the two lights in each turret at midnight to save power.
