SEELEY Algona, la. , CY 4-3174 Fair Attendance Down From 1953 Approximately 10,000 persons paid admission at the gate of the 1959 Kossuth County Fair, and 4,612 grandstand tickets were sold, according to L. W. Nitchals, fair secretary. Largest attendance was Wednesday when 3600 were admitted at the gate and the grandstand had 2,922 patrons at two performances. Friday's attendance was the most below last year of any of the 1959 days. According to Nitchals, it wil be-s^orne* time before the-exact financial status of the fair can be determined. Bitten By Rabid Cat; Two Local Girls Get Shots Debbie, 6 1 *, and Pain, 4 Ms. daughters of Mr nnd Mrs Don PoCoy have been visiting the doctor's office every day Intoly. They onch receive n shot to prevent rabies. The girls were scratched nnd bitten recently by a stray cut which was found to be rabid. The PeCoys recently moved to a farm home south of town. Mr PcCoy said several stray eats have been liivng in n ravine near their homo. One of the animals came into the yard where the girls were playing nnd scratched and bit. both girls. The parents were able to catch the cat. They took the animal to n veterinarian where it died. The head of the cat was sent to Iowa State University at- Ames, and when the report came back that Hie cat had rabies, th« series of 14 shots began for Debbie and Pain. The innoculalions are Riven just under the skin on the abdomen. Although doctors say severe reaction to rabies shots is not uncommon, so far the girls have been bothered very little.
