to 9 Paula Sue (nee Gay), beloved wite ol Robert L. Stanley, devoted mother of Erin Robin and Robert L. Stanley loving daughter of Charles and Glenda about taxes." (How are) Cincinnati Public Schools better equipped to spend taxpayer money than other government organizations? Ottemann: I think we've demonstrated fiscal responsibility. We're living within our means. We're putting control back in the hands of local school principals.

I think we're demonstrating through balancing our budget and cutting our bureaucracy that we're more equipped than a lot of other government organizations are. We've really only been into this about two years, and we're trying to correct 10 or 20 years of waste and bureaucracy. I'll stand on our record so far. CUTS: What type of message is sent to the taxpayers when many prominent school officials send their kids to private schools and the superintendent lives in Delhi? Ottemann: I live in this district, and I send my kids to Cincinnati Public Schools. (Brandt) was originally appointed interim superintendent, and I can see why he might be hesitant to move for an interim appointment.

Mike has spent a lot of money making his house handicapped-accessible for his parents his father, who passed away last week. That's indicative of his commitment to people, just like his commitment to the children of this district. P.M. CONTINUED FROM PAGE Bl ings and classrooms in terrible shape." Why was the maintenance budget cut in half during those years? Ottemann: I don't think the maintenance budget was ever $16 million a year. (It is now $8 million a year.) We cut 79 custodial people (from the 1993 budget), based on a review of the staffing levels of other districts.

CUTS: In a TV commercial, Brandt claims, "For about $8 a month, I can fix the problems." Why are there no disclaimers, either audio or visual about this statement? Is this statement false and misleading? Ottemann: I think we've been more than clear in saying that number is $8.30 for the average home, which is a $67,000 home in Cincinnati. That number came from the county auditor, and it's based on this year's valuation. CUTS: Why are (pro-Issue 4) signs being passed out at the board of education building? Ottemann: They're being passed out here like they are at any school. If (CUTS) would like to leave some signs against the levy in the lobby, they're more than welcome to. Who will pick them up, I don't know.

CUTS: Brandt says he "is mad P.M. Memorials to Mt. Wash Eleanor, dear aunt of Jean Ismael and Vera Jane K. Baker, also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews. Monday, October 18, 1993, age 92 years.

Win, GOOD KELSCH OAKLEY SQ. 531-0105 CONTINUED FROM PAGE Bl can afford the computer systems needed to meet growing demands for detailed quality and cost data, Lang said. But some patients and doctors wonder whether group practices are a good idea. A recent Enquirer call-in poll indicated that readers prefer things the way they are. Doctors worry that group practices can erode the physicianpatient relationship, especially if the group is controlled by a hospital or insurance company.

But Fry, an OBGYN and president of Group Health Associates, said such fears were overblown. Group Health Associates, formed almost 20 years ago, is the area's only established multispecialty group practice. It has 65 physicians serving more than 70,000 patients from six area offices. "I really feel that my ability to practice medicine has been enhanced by being in a group because it is a more efficient way to practice," Fry said. In groups, doctors can share after-hours duties, providing more convenient services to patients.

Doctors can simply walk down the hall to get another expert opinion on a tough case. They have more time to keep up with the latest medical advances. Many solo practitioners are swamped with paperwork and office management problems, Fry said. More large groups are forming. In June, 19 doctors formed Family Physicians of Northern Kentucky.

Last month, Bethesda Group Practice, a part of the NewHealth health plan formed by Choice-Care, Bethesda Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, said it planned to open two multispecialty group offices in January in Miami and Union townships. Many more are expected to form. "Employers are saying we have to have quality, but we can't afford to pay any more," said Dr. Robertson Ward, president of the new Northern Kentucky group. "As a group, we can prove to providers what it costs to provide care." Although the attendance at the academy seminar shows that interest in group practices is high, forming them isn't easy, Fry and Ward said.

"Most doctors aren't trained to be corporate thinkers. It takes years to build a true corporate culture," Fry said. "Until they do, it will be hard for them." Killer of area woman gets execution date in Idaho death The Associated Press warded to the Idaho Supreme Court, was expected to be appealed through the federal court system. Timothy Alan Dunlap, 25, of Sellers-burg, pleaded guilty to killing Tonya Crane, 24, two years ago as he robbed Security State Bank in Soda Springs. He was captured a short time later.

April 20, 1992. The Idaho Supreme Court upheld the sentence after review. Dunlap also admitted killing an ex-girlfriend, Belinda Bolanos of Hamilton, by shooting her with a crossbow in Cincinnati and dumping her body along the Ohio River. He also was sentenced to death in that case. BOISE, Idaho A district judge on Tuesday ordered a man who killed a Soda vSprings bank teller during a 1991 robbery to be executed on Oct.

29. The man also had admitted to killing a Hamilton, Ohio, woman. But the execution order, signed by Sixth District Judge William Woodland and for- Woodland sentenced Dunlap to death on.
