Or playing bridge. Or maybe you were even gasp reading. We were sitting in front of the TV, watching groovy Greg Brady try to be a hippie. Watching troubled Jan try to fade her freckles with lemon juice. Watching Bobby and Cindy try to teeter-totter their way to a world record.

We were there every week from 1969 to 1974 when The Brady Bunch, America's famous blended family, aired in prime time. We returned every day after school for the syndicated reruns. "It's like a signpost of the early 70s," says Sherwood Schwartz, Brady creator. "Whenever people refer to that time in history or if they refer to a melded family, they'll say 'Oh, this is a Brady Bunch Eventually, it'll be in Webster's dictionary."
