4605 Williams BY NANCY FIROR The Cincinnati Enquirer The Rev. Robert F. Von Holle held his parish together after a 1974 tornado demolished St. Brig-id's Church in Xenia. Under Rev.

Von Holle's watchful eye, the church was rebuilt in the country. But soon after, he had to wage a new battle this time, against poor health. "With all the anxiety of losing everything and starting over, his health broke," said the Rev. Paul Stolz, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul parish in Reading.

The battle ended Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Rev. Von Holle, 67, died of cancer. In health, as well as sickness, one characteristic drove Rev. Von Holle.

said his sister. Norma Von Holle of Cincinnati. "Helping people; his love of people," she said. Among those people, children and family stood out. In 1961, he taught at Carroll High School in Dayton, while he was an associate pastor at Mary, Help of Christians parish in Fair-born.

A year later, he was named procurator of Purcell High School and associate pastor at St. Francis de Sales parish in Cincinnati. "He really loved the children of the parish," Stolz said. That love was evident, Stolz said, at SS. Peter and Paul parish in Reading, where Rev.

Von Holle had been in residence since 1985. He would go to the parish school each afternoon to talk with the children as they left for home. Rev. "He liked to play the drums and sing; he was an excellent singer," said his daughter, Shirley Berold of Miamisburg, Ohio. "At dances, he was always the instigator of getting people involved and having a good time, like doing the hokeypokey." Mr. Reidmiller, 83, of Westwood, died of natural causes Monday at Hillebrand Nursing Home, Cheviot. In the late 1940s, Mr. Reidmiller started his own band, the Chuck Reidmiller Band, playing at weddings, anniversaries and for numerous organizations.

He played with the Cumminsville Drum and Bugle Corps, a popular attraction at area parades in the 1940s. "They would have 100 drummers; he was one of the drummers," Berold said. Drug bill expected to be law Sponsor sees more funding next year THE ASSOCIATED PRESS COLUMBUS, Ohio Senate passage of a House-approved drug-fighting bill today would help provide better funding for programs in the legislation, the measure's sponsor said Wednesday. Sen.

Charles Henry, R-Chardon, eaid he and others would work to Include more funds in the next State budget to expand communi-y-based programs that the bill would set up on a pilot basis. The Senate meets for a one-day Session today to vote on the drug measure and some other Senate kills that were returned from the House with amendments July 20. JU1 are expected to be sent to Gov. Richard Celeste, who helped draft he final version of the drug bill and has indicated he will sign it. I "It's a good bill," Henry said, Jhough he added he was disappointed the programs couldn't b1 jnore fully funded.

His original bill provided $50 million for local treatment, rehabil P.M. at Filch-Denney Funeral Home. Visitation from 12 Noon until 2 M. Donations to the STERMER FUNERAL HOMES Sturtz's office had investigated 215 complaints, resolving 150, or 69.7 of them. One complaint that has not been fully resolved involves Human Services Director Roland Hairston, accused by Sturtz last week of falsifying expense accounts with unauthorized travel and personal phone calls.

Celeste said that Hairston has repaid the money about $750 and that State Auditor Thomas Ferguson is looking into Hairston's statement that he did nothing inappropriate, v. "I do not believe that director Hairston intentionally used public money for persona). expenses," said Celeste. The governor earlier directed state budget officials to review procedures used to oversee state employee expenditures. The inspector general Sturtz or a successor named by the next governor will not have the authority to investigate members of the legislature, whose ethics committees are supposed to serve that purpose.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS COLUMBUS, Ohio Gov. Richard Celeste on Wednesday signed into law a bill creating a permanent inspector general's office to investigate charges of wrongdoing in the executive branch of state government. "I wish I had had an inspector general from the day I became governor," he said, apparently referring to allegations of unethical and illegal conduct that have dogged his administration off and on since 1983. He said that with the law, which garnered strong, bipartisan support in the legislature, "I think what we have here is a legacy for the future." Celeste in June, 1988, signed an executive order creating the office of inspector general, but without the new bill, the position would have expired when Celeste's term ends in January. David Sturtz, a retired Ohio Highway Patrol officer, was named inspector general in 1988.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BARBOUR VILLE, Ky: The investigation of an explosion that killed three coal miners and injured two others in a remote area of southeastern Kentucky is expected to start today after workers remove the remains of two victims.
