IRONS PLUMBING & HEATING Pictured above is the P. R. Irons Healing and Plumbing establishment located at 812 East McGregor. The business has been in Algona since 1940. At that lime the building was located west of the present location on the same lot. In 1946. a larger building was needed to facilitate the expanding business. This building is the one pictured. P. R. Irons has been in Algona since 1914. In 1936. he was selling stokers for Butler manufacturing, and two years later started selling furnaces/This gave him his start in the heating and plumbing business, and in 1940,,P. R. Irons 1 -' Healing and Plumbing was established. Employed here are Russell Sands and Darrell Simmons as plumbers .and Mrs Goldie Guderian as bookkeeper. Irons features American Radiator Standard Sanitary, Kohler Fixtures, Perfection and General Electric Furnaces, and General Electric Air Conditioning. In addition to the heating and plumbing work, this business does a complete line of sheet metal work, which is all done in their location. At present, they are taking care of the installation of the healing and air conditioning in the new Johnson Motel on Highway 169 (and/are installing the plumbing in the new Wiedenhoff addition. Let's Folks in town and folks in the country are becoming increasingly aware of their inter-dependence — one on the other. Recognizing that farming today in this community is 'big business/ the businessmen whose individual advertisements appear here are supporting a series of "Let's Get Acquainted" aerial farm photos in this county and a series of .pictures of business places in this town. The "mystery farm photo", and the "business place photo" will help business folks in town and their neighbors in the country to become better acquainted. In both cases, we will be able to appreciate more the efforts being made by both town and country residents to make progress in their work while building a better community. BUSINESS....IN THE COUNTRY if I ALLAN BOLLINGER FARM - SOUTHEAST OF FENTON This week's Upper Des Moines Mystery Farm, owned by Ed Weisbrod of Omaha, is operated by Mr Allan Bollinger and his wife, Clarinda. The 320 acre farm is located 2 miles south and Vz mile east of Fenton. The Bellingers have operated this farm for eleven years. Allan and Clarinda Bellinger, who were married in 1930, have four children, three sons and one daughter; Floyd, who lives in W au kegan, Illinois; Keith, who is at present in France with the army? Kathleen (Mrs Peter Kc-euck) pf Feniom and Marvin* who is now at home and discharged from the service. Tho Boiling*? farm is characteristic of the kind of operation found in this area. Their half section is devoted to corn and oats mostly, They also raise polled shorthorns and hogs. Allan states that since the above photo was taken, aUof^he^buildings on the farm have been painted, Allan and Clarinda are very well known in their community and have participated in many civic affairs.
