Mcams Dertiocrti, Thnrsdty, Jinntry 31, Cause Comings And Goings Clayton Ryder Rites Friday Wanda Lee Last Monday night the Baptist Church sponsored a skating parly at the Rockdale Skating Rink at which some 40 youngsters and adults attended and had an enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs. Koye Cass visited In Lexington Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs.

Jimmy Cass, Dwayne, Lisn and Carmen. They went especially at this time to help Carmen celebrate her third birthday. Mrs. Lizzie Rains has been a patient in the Hearne Hospital. Her father, Roy Fuller was taken to the hospital In Cameron one day this past week.

Mr. and Mrs. Blake Bailey recently visited in Austin with their daughter and grandson, Billyc Dragoo and Little Blake. Then they all visited in San Antonio with another daughter, Betty Jean and family. Mr.

m. Friday, January 31, from the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Barnett, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Norwood Cemetery with Heartfield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be T.

Jolly and Melvin Hartley. Mr. Ryder died at about 3:30 p. m. Monday, January 27, in Darnell Hospital at Fort Hood.

He was born in Hot Springs, Virginia on November 12, 1921. Mr. Ryder was retired from the Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was married to the former Alice Bishop, daughter of Walter Bishop and the late Mrs. Bishop of Hearne.

Mr. Ryder is survived by his wife of Hearne; one son, Rudy Garland Ryder of Orlando, Florida; four daughters, Mrs. Brcnda Diane Mack of Conroe, Mrs. Sandra Lynn Spindle of Fredricksburg, Virginia, Mrs. Mrs.

M. M. Ottea Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Mon- tandan of Austin visited her Wanda Mane Walker of Brva and Mrs.

Robert parents, Mr. Russell on Monday. Miss Justina Ottea was an overnight guest of her grandmother, Mrs. M. M.

Ottea on Friday. 'The wet cold weather has kept farming activity slow. Some farmers have been able to do some fertilizing and ground breaking on the drier fields. Our sympathy is extended to the family of George Gassen of Elliott. Mr.

Gassen passed away on Sunday. His many friends here remember him most kindly. A point to remember; Respect and love ought to be extended also to those who think or act differently than we do in social, political and even religious matters. In fact, the more deeply we come to understand their ways of thinking through such courtesy and love, the more easily will we be able to enter into dialogue with them. and Mrs.

Toma Davenia Villalobos of Conroe; five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Georgia Ryder of Stanton, Virginia; and one sister, Mrs. Hazel McCune of Stanton, Virginia. Rites Held For Mrs. Klawetter Funeral services for Mrs.

Antoinette Sommer Klawetter, 94, of Calvert were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, from the Presbyterian Church of Calvert with the Rev. R. Y. Russell officiating.

Interment followed in Calvert City Cemetery under the direction of Heartfield Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were W. F. Sander, John Bill Anderson, Charles P. Briggs III, Peter C.

Gibson Wesley Anderson and James H. Jones. Mrs. Klawetter died on Thursday, January 23. She was born July 4, 1880 in Calvert where she spent most of her lifetime.

Mrs. Klawetter was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one son, C. S. Anchicks of Calvert; one daughter, Mrs.

C. T. Watson of Stratford; four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Reba S. Walker Cause Services Funeral services for Mrs.

Reba Shafer Walker, 75, of Cause were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, January 29, from the Cause Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Dusek as the officiating minister. Burial was in Pin Oak Cemetery near Cause under the direction of Heartfield Funeral Home of Hearne.

Serving as pallbearers were W. L. Ditto, Gene Baldman, Watson Shafer, Joe G. Moore, Harold Shafer and Bobby Williams. Mrs.

Walker died Sunday, January 26. She was born December 26, 1899 in Cause where she spent her lifetime. Mrs, Walker was a member of the Cause Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Edgar E. Walker of Cause; and one sister, Mrs.

Rene S. Watson of Humble. Death Claims Steve Klotz Funeral services for Steve Klotz, 82, of Bremond were held at 3 p. m. Tuesday, January 28, from St.

Mary's Catholic Church of Bremond with the Rev. Michael Krol officiating and burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Klotz died early Monday morning in a Calvert nursing home.

He was born December 8, 1892 in Bremond, was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Verna Wigert of Bremond; two brothers, Frank Klotz.of Bremond and Albert Klotz of Houston. Us Marg Pearson, owners Ike Wrzesinski Bremond Rites Funeral services for Ike Wrzesinski, 81, of Bremond were held at 10 a. m.

Tuesday, January 28, from St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bremond with the Rev. Michael Krol officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mr. Wrzesinski died Sunday in a Marlin hospital. He was born July 23, 1893 and married Mary Kasmiroski in Bremond on September 7, 1926. They had made their home in Bremond since that time. He was a farmer in earlier years and was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of Bremond; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Bashinski of Houston and Miss Victoria Wrzesinski of Austin; one son, Joe Wrzesinski of Austin; and four grandchildren. George Gassen Buried Tuesday Funeral services for George Christian Gassen, 60, of the Elliott community were held at 10 a. m.

Tuesday, January 28, from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hearne with the Rev. Robert A. Fuchs as the officiating priest. Interment followed in Mary's Cemetery of Hearne.

Serving as pallbearers were Luther Cole, Bill Palmos, Mark Wehling, Floyd Swick, Bernard Rother and Edward Priestly. Named honorary pallbearers were Joe Hedrick, Guy E. Chandler, Bill Watts, Leo Zeig, Wiley Whatley, Philen Mahan, P. J. Haas and Rex Michael Jr.

The Rosary was recited at 8:30 p. m. Monday, January 27, in the chapel of Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne. Mr. Gassen was born August 10, 1914 in Okarche, Oklahoma.

Mr. Gassen died Sunday morning in a Bryan hospital after having suffered from a heart ailment in recent years. He owned and operated the Gassen Ca'binel Shop in the Elliott community. Mr. Gassen was well known throughout the area for his outstanding work as a master carpenter.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eileene Gassen of the home address; three sons, Harold M. Gassen and Paul J.

Gassen of Bryan and Gerald S. Gassen of Laredo; four daughters, Mrs. Dolores Ann Mus- tachea of Houston, Mrs. Bernadette Wohleb of Temple, Mrs. Ellen Ruth Johnson of Hearne and Mrs.

Mary Rene Stegall of Franklin; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margarette Reherman and Mrs. Marie Alig of Okarche, Oklahoma; and one brother, Joe Gassen of Bay City. Local Happenings From Franklin Alma Dodds Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson of Bryan attended the funeral services for Wesley Seigler and George Smithers on Monday, January 20. Mrs. Jo Cain is now at home after being a surgical patient in a Bryan hospital.

J. Lynn Mauk was at Hill Top Lakes on Thursday, January 23, to attend a meeting for insurance agents. Mrs. Elsie Dieckman has returned home after visiting her son, Mr. and Mrs.

John June Dieckman and family at Bakersfield, California for two weeks. Jimmy Brewer, a mid-term graduate of Franklin High School and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rondal Brewer, left last week for Lake Jackson where he is enrolled in Lake Jackson Junior College. Mrs.

Homer Arnold and son, Homer of Edna visited several days last week with Misses Artie and Dora Leamon. Mrs. Wilma Ferguson is still hospitalized in Marlin. Mr. and Mrs.

Nolan Ray Brantner of Lawton, Oklahoma announce the arrival of a son, James Nolan, at Reynolds Army Hospital, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Mrs. Brantner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.

C. Currie of Franklin. Weldon Crowell remains in a Marlin hospital, while Mrs. L. L.

Davis is in a Bryan hospital and Mrs. Alma Turner submitted to surgery last week in a Bryan hospital. Recent visitors with L. C. Reagan were Mr.

and Mrs. A. E. Milstead and Melinda of LaMarque. Visiting with Mrs.

Lillie Mae King were Mr. and Mrs. Billy Johnson and family and W. T. Johnson of Houston.
