She had been strangled. "We are working mainly with police agencies in Richland and Ashland counties," Collins said. Although Patterson was reported missing Feb. 9, Collins said he did not believe she had been in this area since then. The body was found about 4 p.m.

March 23 by a young couple. The body was in a rust-colored sleeping bag about 75 yards from the highway. Patterson was described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair that previously had been bleached or lightened. Officers said she was dressed in a light or off-white, long-sleeve pullover shirt with a multi-color design on front and a fleece-lined blue jacket. miles east of Youngstown, Ohio.

Death was caused by blows to the head. She was identified by dental impressions. Collins said two of the three other cases are linked to Youngstown and the remaining one to Medina, Ohio, about 60 miles west of Youngstown. "All four were reported to be prostitutes working truck stops," Collins said. When asked if Patterson was a prostitute, Collins said, "Her husband said she was." Victims in the other cases are: Marcia Matthews, age and address not available, reported missing June 12, 1985, from a truck stop in the Youngstown area.

She was found dead near 1-71 in Richland County. She had been beaten about the head. Shirley Taylor, 22, of Virginia, who was reported missing July 20, 1986, from a truck stop in Austintown, a suburb of Youngstown. She was found dead in a closed rest stop near the intersection of 1-71 and Interstate 76. She had been strangled and beaten.

BY IRENE WRIGHT The Cincinnati Enquirer The body of a woman found along Interstate 71 in Warren County last week may be linked to a series of killings, of prostitutes working out of truck stops mostly in northeast Ohio, Warren County Sherriff James Collins said Monday. "That's what we're looking into. We're aware of three other murders in Ohio that have occurred under similar circumstances," Collins said. The sheriff said he is attempting to arrange a meeting with officers of other police agencies involved. "We want to pool information and resources to establish that the killings may have been done by the same person." The bludgeoned body of Anne Marie Patterson, 27, Findlay, was found March 23 in a sleeping bag at the 1-71 exit ramp at Wilmington Road.

The bees have not had much success spreading by natural means north of their native Africa, Tew said, noting that some detected in Poland quickly died off. Kraft sentenced Meister to a year in the Ohio Reformatory on each of the three charges, before suspending the three-year sentence and placing him on probation for five years. A condition of Meister's probation provides that he work 40 hours of community service weekly if he is not employed. THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER Former ticket broker William E. Meister received a suspended three-year prison sentence Monday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court after having pleaded guilty to three charges. Meister pleaded guilty on March 9 to two theft charges and a charge of passing a bad check in connection with two $10,000 loans he received from the Deer Park Federal Savings Loan in December, 1985. Two additional bad-check charges were dismissed by Care helicopter after he crashed his cruiser into a railroad underpass abutment en route to an alarm drop.

Sgt. David Hazelwood, 35, a 13-year member of the Woodlawn police, was in fair condition later Monday. He reportedly suffered a leg injury. Woodlawn Chief John Williams said Hazelwood was rushing to an alarm drop at Western Electric, Glendale-Milford and Chester roads. Rogers, 51, former director of the Department of Youth Services, was taken to Cuyahoga County Jail. 92 counts stemming from the library thefts. Common Pleas Judge James D. Sweeney called Rogers the "linchpin" in the East Cleveland operation and told him there was no crime more corrosive to the public trust than theft in office. He is to stay in the county jail until federal marshals pick him up to begin serving a three-year federal prison term for taking kickbacks while in the youth-services post under Gov.

Richard Celeste. Rogers, who headed the library system from 1977 until he took the state post in 1983, had pleaded no contest to and was found guilty of.
