Kyle Jones Kyle Jones had planned to try out for track this year at Sycamore High School. The 14-year-old thought he had a good chance of making the team. But the Sycamore Township youth collapsed in class Tuesday afternoon at Sycamore High School and died shortly afterward at Bethesda North Hospital. In November, he had been hospitalized for a kidney problem. "Kyle was a very creative person," said family friend Mary D.

Howard. "He was popular and the kind of kid who had a sense of humor. He was extremely compassionate and very competitive." Kyle had attended Sycamore School District schools all his life. An honor student, the freshman played on the freshman basketball team. While at Sycamore Junior High, he had run track.

Howard said Kyle also had an interest in writing poetry and prose. "We've found a collection of his work that I will look in and see if it can be published," she said. In November, Kyle decided to join Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was baptized Nov. 11 at the church and was accepted as a full member.

Relatives and friends are Invited to attend Blessing at BY JACKIE JADRNAK Gannett News Service COLUMBUS, Ohio State tax collections last month eased some administration fears, but some belt-tightening still may be called for in the next two weeks, an Ohio budget official said Wednesday.

Almost halfway through the state budget year, officials are keeping an eye on monthly figures on spending and tax collections to see if the state is in danger of dipping into red ink. On the surface, news from November was good, according to Darrell Winefordner, deputy director of the Office of Budget and Management. A three-month trend of unexpectedly low collections from personal income taxes was reversed, with revenues $11.9 million over expectations, he said. "We don't know whether that's a continuing trend or a one-month aberration," he said. For the year so far, state in- au Funeral Home, 10980 Reading Road, SharonviDe, Friday, at 11 A.M.

That, coupled with some other trends, probably means revised budget figures will be presented in the next couple of weeks, Winefordner said.

Lower revenues and some higher spending, most of it for Medicaid, are expected to kill chances for a 4 welfare benefit hike in January. Gov. Richard F. Celeste has called that increase unlikely. It had been put in the budget subject to the state's ability to come up with $11 million to pay for it.

Through November, state revenues still are $19.5 million above estimates, while spending is $13.8 million over estimates, Winefordner said.
