Alexander, devoted mother of Carolyn Alice Petty Chenoweth Alexander, 66, of Wyoming, who for years was a volunteer working with runaways and other humanitarian projects, died Sunday at Providence Hospital. Mrs.

Alexander was past president of the University of Cincinnati Woman's Club, she was on the board of directors of the Council on Alcoholism, and a former board member at Prospect Halfway House. She worked as a volunteer at the Lighthouse Runaway Shelter, for Safe Place, and at the former Longview State Hospital. "She felt strongly on many issues and let her opinions be known," her husband, James M. Alexander, said. "She was a great advocate of Planned Parenthood.

That was the kind of thing she was concerned with." Carl G. and George A. Sipple, loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and six areat-aranrkhilrlrpn Sunrlav. Mrs. Alexander was a graduate of the old University School in Walnut Hills, and of UC in Applied Arts and Art Teaching.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn A. Madison, Cincinnati, and Mrs. Susan A. Davis, Ashe-ville, N.C.; a son, Richard M.

He was 53. Mr. Hollon was manager of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Amelia, and was associated with Sentry Savings and Loan Amelia, for 27 years before its merger with Citizens.

He served for eight years on the Clermont Northeastern school board and was a former member of the Great Oaks Board of Education. Mr. Hollon attended Lees College in Jackson, and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Irene; two daughters Kaye Palmisano of Glen Este and Karen Kuennemeier of Batavia; his father, George Hollon of Campton, a brother, James, Cincinnati; two sisters, Mary Louise Risner, Campton, and Anita Fern Shelton, Lexington, and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Lorraine Witten Lorraine Witten, 62, Amberley Village, died of cancer Thursday at Holmes Hospital. She had been ill for five months. Mrs. Witten came from Baltimore, in 1968 when her husband, Louis Witten, joined the University of Cincinnati faculty as a professor of physics.

Born in Baltimore, she was a 1944 graduate of Goucher College, where she was the editor of the college's weekly newspaper and a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor fraternity. Before her marriage she did research on physiological optics at Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She also was active in Baltimore's League of Women Voters. In Cincinnati, she was coordinator for the National Council of Jewish Women in a joint project with Hebrew Union College's (HUC) archives, a major oral history study in which Cincinnati residents who survived Nazi Germany were interviewed. She also was the first book buyer for the new HUC book store.

"Everybody tells me she was a very gracious host, quite interested in people," her husband said. "She was a good cook, a good housekeeper, and was interested in art. Last year while I was on leave of absence from UC at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, she accompanied me and took a class in crafts. She discovered a remarkable talent and interest in clay sculpture." Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Celia Witten of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Edward and Jesse of New Jersey, and Matthew, of Somerville, four sisters, Frieda Seligman, Hilda Coven, Eva Miller and Ethel Klavens, all of Baltimore; and two grandchildren. Services were Friday at Weil Funeral Home, Avondale.

Ross County sheriff's deputies found the body of Pamela Sue Southworth, 35, about 9:30 a.m.
