Aylwin said the former Communist leader of East Germany was told Chile was "withdrawing" the guest status it had granted him since December. Honecker left the embassy Wednesday and was flown to Berlin. He was immediately arrested for ordering shoot-to-kill orders to East German border guards. Chess master Fischer says sanctions don't concern him BELGRADE, Yugoslavia: U.S. chess master Bobby Fischer said Friday that he came to Yugoslavia to play chess and wasn't concerned with the political implications of his visit, which may violate U.N.

Georgia becomes 179th member of United Nations UNITED NATIONS: The former Soviet republic of Georgia on Friday was admitted to the United Nations as its 179th member. Georgia was admitted by acclamation in the General Assembly. It is the last of the Soviet republics to join the world body.
